Season Tickets/Parking

This year, for the first time, I did get my contribution in to the Foundation and ordered tickets. From other posts, I understand tickets are mailed in early August. I was not asked nor did I pay for a parking deal. Anyone know if I get that option when tickets are mailed?

from the LHF:
Remember, to be eligible for football parking for the 2008 season; you must make your annual gift by March 3rd, 2008 and return your season ticket application by the priority deadline.

did you contribute by the deadline?

He should have already received information from LHF for parking. The emails for parking went out two weeks ago. I suggest you call.

Thanks guys. I conclude that if I get tickets, it will not involve parking arrangements. If I get the tickets, and I suspect I will, I will have to scout out alternatives. Sure hope I don't have a date with me the first time I drive around and then hike to the stadium and then hoof it up the Upper West Stands. Oh well, I am a Longhorn and I will do this to get started on the trail.

As long as you hit the tailgate early on Saturday, you'll have no problems parking. If you choose to head to the greater DKR area within 2 hours of kickoff, you deserve to hike in the heat...

I got a notice a few weeks ago from LHF telling me that my parking will be in the garages (again). I didn't get an email. I was not allowed to request parking location, like they said everyone would be able to. When I called, they said that in order to be ABLE to request, you had to make the minimum contribution of something like $600...I forget the exact number. So again, I get completely screwed because of money. Can't believe what the LHF is doing to those that don't have jobs that pay six figures.

Half the people who are given non-garage spaces don't even tailgate anyway. They roll in 15 minutes before kickoff and ***** if they can't find a parking spot just for them.

I think I've posted about this before, but if you don't want to have to park far away and walk to the stadium, try the Capital Metro shuttle program. I do it every gameday and know plenty of other LHF donors who do. You can park at Barton Creek mall or the intramural fields and catch one of the UT campus shuttles.

I've never ridden the buses from the intramural fields, but the ones from the mall leave starting around 2.5 to 3 hours prior to kick-off. Officially, they say 2.5 but it's really whenever they get their ticket trailer set up and get the buses lined up, which last season was usually a full 3 hours ahead of time.

The way it works is that they set up the ticket trailer at the back of the parking lot in front of Macy's/Dillards. You pay $2 for a ticket to get on the bus (you don't need a ticket for the return trip), and they drop you off on Speedway in front of Jester. They keep the buses operating continuously until game time, so don't freak out if you can't get there early.

Then they pick you up from that same drop-off spot starting at the end of the 3rd quarter (continuing until 1 hour after the game ends) and take you back to your car. It's a very cheap way to park and not have to walk more than 5 minutes to and from the stadium. I've done it for the past 2 seasons, and I've never had a problem with safety or worrying about my car being vandalized, especially at the mall, where you have mall security and the Capital Metro people hanging out.
