Season On The Line In Manhattan

Good luck with KSU. I wasn't able to watch them against OSU, but they must have something figured out to win 48-0.

Im really not trying to be argumentative at all...
But, who has really gashed our defense with the run this year

No one. That’s who.

It’s the pass that does us in. Martinez may get some running room but that’s not too concerning to me. I’m reasonably confident they’ll have to beat us with the pass.

Gary was at OU, and I believe at Tech & at Stillwater. Not sure why he wouldn't be in Manhattan unless he gets to choose which games to attend since Manhattan is the worst place in the Big XII - Underwoods in Waco sucks, but it's better than anything in Manhattan.
I played on the tennis team in Brownwood with Leo Underwood. To give them some credit, they do call the place a "cafeteria".

Never understood what " barbequed steak" was. Leo's a nice enough guy though.

83,

The Brownwood Lions produced a plethora of car dealers - Tommie Vaughn, Joe Conte/Chuck Davis, Warren Bankston for starters. As I recall, there was some question if Bankston graduated, but SMU probably gave him a BBA with or without his HS diploma. At one time SMU had over 30 Nissan Z cars in the football tea.

Bijan Robinson was named Maxwell Award semifinalist while Demarvion Overshown was named Butkus Award semifinalist.

Turning to Saturday's game vs Kansas State....

6:00 PM CT / TV = FS1

The Longhorns have won the past 5 K-State contests, but face a Wildcats team which pummeled the 'Pokes a week ago 48-zip.

Texas total offense: No. 31 – 444.8 ypg
KSU total offense: No. 59 – 413.1 ypg

Texas total defense: No. 63 – 370.9 ypg
KSU total defense: No. 44 – 354.9 ypg

Texas rushing offense: No. 43 – 182.9 ypg
KSU rushing offense: No. 11 – 228.0 ypg

Texas rushing defense: No. 35 – 121.6 ypg
KSU rushing defense: No. 55 – 133.2 ypg

Texas passing offense: No. 47 – 261.9 ypg
KSU passing offense: No. 112 – 185.1 ypg

Texas passing yards allowed: No. 92 – 249.2 ypg
KSU passing yards allowed: No. 56 – 221.6 ypg

The biggest question for the Texas D is which QB will they face. The K-State starter was injured against TCU as was their backup, Will Howard. But it was Howard who directed the destruction of OSU last weekend.

I don't think there's enough of a discernable difference between Howard and Martinez for that part of their game to matter. Howard can take off and run, just like he has against us the past two seasons. I think Martinez's rush stats are a little off-balance because of a handful of plays against Tech, although he could just as easily pull a long one against us too.

Unfortunately for us, I think third downs are going to be relatively the same story as the past 2 games. Bring little to no pressure, keep open lanes in the zone... they'll beat us in the air or the ground with that scheme. Deuce is a much bigger problem than whoever is playing QB, and they'll just put him wherever the most green is on the field and get it to him with ease.

Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart that we're gonna lose.
Don't tell my heart, my achy breaky heart. I just don't think he'd understand.
And IF you tell my heart, my achy breaky heart, he might blow up and kill this man.

So please.

hopefully:
1)Ewers will be more on target.
2)Worthy will make conscience attempts to catch the ball if the ball is not thrown perfectly to him. (I still say he has an ego problem)
3) Sark will make good decisions!
a) Sark could have put osu out of field goal range early in the first quarter on a 3 and 13 holding call at the 30 yard line. He declined however and they kick a 47 yard field goal. It could have been 3rd and 23, and make osu make a play.
b) Sark should have replaced Ewers with Card!...but Sark didnt even think about it.
evidently Sark needs help with decision making and his assistants need to help.

3)a). I don't recall that. I do recall everyone saying OSU had no penalties. I get that if we declined a penalty, it is no longer a penalty, but that was not what the complaints were about.

I picked the Horns to win this weekend because they will be rested and well motivated whereas the cats will be flat after leaving it all on the field last week …

But come Saturday, I’m going to swing by Specs and stock up on gin. Just in case.
