Season On The Line In Manhattan

I’ve been following Longhorn football for many years, but considering this team’s second half on the road collapses and our coaches’ lack of second half adjustments, I need some help on approaching the upcoming game against Kansas State, who just crushed Okie State today. I just hope we don’t have to play them at night.

If it’s at night, that just means more time to rest and heal.

We were well due for a bye week. I do think Sark comes out with some good stuff with a week off. But some down time is probably the biggest thing.

We are a wildcard with QE being the biggest part of that.

We’ll be up 31-7 at half, but Second Half Steve will blow the lead in the second half. Don’t worry. We’ll still win the game in OT.

6:00 kick.

Little Apple fans will be well lubricated, fired up and loud.

Horns better be focused and bring their A game.

Sorry to say it but watching numerous games today I have the same feeling I’ve had last few years, we’re not that good. Certainly we have some talent at skill positions but overall my Horns are once again middle of the road, even in the B12. Certainly willing to be proven wrong but doubt it will happen.

Bye week came at a good time - lot's of players needed some rest and healing up.

After seeing katz destroy osu yesterday, the Horns will be required to do some heavy lifting if they want to get out of the Little Apple with a win.

Patterson has had 2 weeks to prepare a D game plan vs. the cats. This should greatly help on the D side of the ball.

Sark better have a quality O game plan that will have good use of misdirection, good crossing patterns, screens, passing to RB's & tight ends, new wrinkles - Roschon throw out of the wlidhorn, new plays / trick plays.

Better have solid 2nd half adjustments, too.

QE will have had 2 weeks for his finger to heal. He must be very sharp Sat. - KSU D will be coming after him.

Just some random thoughts after 1 cup of Joe...

And Patterson won’t be there. Does it matter? Dunno but doesn’t make me happy so I guess in my mind, yeah, it matters.

Will Patterson be missing due to be being an advisor rather than coach? NCDD travel restrictions or what?

He won’t travel to TCU for obvious reasons but didn’t know CDC was holding him back from K State, too. That makes no sense.

Until Texas shows any ability to watch a game like KSU-OSU and get spitting mad that they didn't beat the crap out of the Mullets, poms is right most likely.

Need another Bama-like performance in the Little Apple to stay close to these cats. Could get ugly fast if we don’t bring it early & often. On the other hand, could serve as a critical road win against a legit team.

Hope Sark & the coaches have a great week of prep. Big test coming.

Gary was at OU, and I believe at Tech & at Stillwater. Not sure why he wouldn't be in Manhattan unless he gets to choose which games to attend since Manhattan is the worst place in the Big XII - Underwoods in Waco sucks, but it's better than anything in Manhattan.

I just don't think I've heard anything this week (or since August 2021) that disproves "we are who we thought we were." We're middling and the OU game was a fluke against their platoon of backups. KSU is rolling with whoever they put out there. There hasn't been any buzz about attitude or anything since the OK State game.

We'll probably do just enough to break everyone's spirits all over again on Saturday. Have some kind of close game where we blow it.

There are plenty of things to be nervous about and Deuce Vaughn could be one....But, i just want to say I hear about that guy every year we play them, and we pretty much hold him in check. Last couple times out he barely left with lunch money and last trip to manhattan our guys feasted while he ate crumbs.
With their new and improved run scheme, he'll get some, but I'll believe he is going to run all over us when I see it.
Been hearing it for years.
Geesh, seems like that dude has been playing almost as long as Adrian Martinez...He should be good by now

Our tackling has to be solid. We can't get repeatedly gashed with long running plays against our D and hope to win this one. Fortunately, our D-front should match up well.

This is yet another team with slightly weaker talent, but really good coaching. That's pretty much all we see in this year's Big 12.

Im really not trying to be argumentative at all...
But, who has really gashed our defense with the run this year?
Texas has the 3rd best rushing d in the conference...and just barely out of first.
UT has been excellent against the run this season, and I for one have really enjoyed watching it .

By the way, which team do you all think ranks at the very bottom in overall D in the Big12?

Hint: osu (lets not get too carried away about ksus offense. I am more concerned about our o vs their d)
Fwiw kSUs d ranks 3rd overall and 4th against the rush. I personally think the game comes down to whether we get our vs osu offense and qb or more what weve seen the majority of the rest of the season more so than whether or not our d plays well

I’ll be mad if we win or lose…I’d love a win, but the thought of the inconsistency and what could of been will then be maddening.
