Saturday Aggie Game

Milner gets out of trouble. Bottom of the 8th, each team has 0 runs on 4 hits for Horns, Aggies now have 5 hits.

I agree the Aggie starter has done an outstanding job, not taking away from him but it does not seem to me the Horns are doing anything to help themselves. Aggies got a one out single and a bunt single. Aggies have runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out.

For all you Ranger fans like me, Josh Hamilton just hit a 3 run homerun for Round Rock, he looks healthy.

What a colapse! But still two out of three isn't bad and we get the tie breaker so I can't be too mad. It would have been nice to have won it but our bats were asleep most of the night tonight.

Aggies got 3 runs on 4 hits off Knebel. Bottom of the 9th. Aggies 3 Horns 0. Looks like they are sharing the championship. I have to take my hat off to Aggie starter tonight in this hot and humid weather he has been outstanding.

This will be Ross Striplings 7th win in a row for the Aggies. He is within 1 out of a complete game shutout, great fantasy numbers

I think the Aggies are too good to sweep but that is just my opinion. Final Aggies 3 Texas 0. Shared championship, Horns # 1 seed. Stripling and Jungmann now lead Big 12 with 12 wins each.

Sadly this is a portend of what is to come in the tournament as the horns offensive struggles always seem to come at critical moments. No reason not to have won this game but you cant rely on your pitchers to be perfect every game. Taking the series was the key but losing tonight just really sucks especially the way Texas lost.

They lost to Ross Stripling who is now 12 - 2 for the year, hats off to him, he is one of the top 2 or 3 pitchers in the Big 12.

This has been my fear for the post-season all year. I think we'll be fine in the regional, but if we have a game 3 in the Super I see a similar outcome as tonight. IMO, it's gonna be crucial for Cole Green to get back in dominant form to get us to the CWS (well and offense ofcourse). I'm not comfortable with a game 3 matchup against a real good team and matching runs. Hoping Taylor will keep smokin' and Cole will turn it up a notch in the post-season...which he has been known to dominate in past post-seasons. We shall see...hoping for the best.

All that aside, congrats Horns on the series win, that was huge. Going in, that's all that was mandatory and we accomplished it. Sweeping a top 10 team with top 10 pitching was a very tall order and it takes nothing away from a great series win by not doing so. Go Horns...win the tourney!!!

It would be nice to get hit and runs every night, but I am glad to see the performance of our bullpen, Kniebel in the 9th not withstanding. Carrying a shutout into the 9th in the third game is encouraging for tournament play.

As far as clutch hitting, didn't we have clutch hitting last night?

Is Stripling the Aggie ace? Why didn't he pitch on Thursday against Jungman?

I also had wondered about this and whether Pericles was correct in how Aggie had used
Stripling. So I looked it up.

Stripling in the prior 3 weekend starts had either been used as a Sunday starter against Missouri
and then Saturday starter against DBU and Nebraska (the last weekend before playing UT).
Therefore, he was set up to start the last game against the Horns on Saturday. That will
set him up to pitch their 3rd game on either Friday or Saturday during the tournament.
It will be interesting to see if that does happen that way.
