Sarkisian’s Intro Press Conf

I call BS, the origin of the expression is from Eve when she was the first momma to say, “don’t you dare, I got my eye on you!”.

Sark was impressive. Very genuine. Seems like someone in control and has a defined vision. My instincts tell me he will bring the program together. Loved the fact he said the eyes is our school song and we will sing it proudly. I’m on board.

Had no idea that the lyrics to 'Amazing Grace' were written by a former slave-trader until I read SabreHorn's comment in this thread and googled it. Talk about taking a song and making it your own...

I def. like what I am seeing and hearing so far.............the man can coach QB's.............Jones was a 3 star coming out of Florida and this was the most prolific offense in Bama history..........QBR's of over 90 last 2 seasons............just imagine if we can coach em up and surround with superior talent.

There's going to be a dip in talent no thanks to TH and his arrogance. Aggie going to the SEC opened the door for them to come in and raid Texas. It's tougher now than it was for MB even if we were competing for conf championships.

We also need Day to go to the NFL and for them to hire a TH/JH. Hopefully Sark can get it turned around quick with flips and transfers.

There is nothing about the Eyes that is racist.
That it may or may not have been performed during a minstrel show performance does not make it racist
The phrase the eyes was used many times prior to Lee or Prather .
The snowflakes cleverly used this issue.
I hope it is done.

By what did the aggrieved players say that convinced you our Eyes is racist?

I wasn't convinced that it was racist on the surface. I have written about it in the past. I feel the song is about love, not hate or privilege. It was about the love of the university and provided the opportunity for the players and the fans to bond over this love TOGETHER as Longhorns.

I was educated by the players about the origins of the song. And the minstrel show. Or at least it was brought to my attention by them.

I have made it very clear that I considered the extortion demand to ban the Eyes to be just that; extortion; a demand to do this or else. I was and am in favor of retaining the song.

My comment about Sarkisian is merely from my own sense of how people on the Left think and what they consider to be a micro-aggression. We can say F'm and not concern ourselves with their opinion/feelings. We can say F'm and not worry about how we "negotiate" ourselves back into a point where everyone (or the vast majority) understands one another and can accept the meaning of the song in this modern age.

But I don't like that sort of approach.

We are living in a very sensitive time and to say they just need to get over it is not effective in my book. Again, I don't think Coach meant to be anything negative by it. It's just that I have talked online to real Liberal feminists (not @Seattle Husker or @OUBubba because I don't think they are snowflakes) many times since 9/11 who represent the hatred on the Left and have studied much of their playbook and triggers.

That's all I was saying.

I hope I don't get banned for saying this in a forum other than West Mall.

Am I the only one that picked up on his comments about the iconic uniforms?

What I heard was him talking about the Rose Bowl, the uniforms, the Burnt Orange, the Hook Em. After my multiple conversations since last summer, that means, "The school colors of The University of Texas are Burnt Orange & White, White & Burnt Orange, Burnt Orange & White", no other colors AND the Horns won't look like NASCAR drivers.

And, yes, the words inside quotation marks are a direct quote in a one on one phone conversation from last August.

I believe that the BOR, Jay Hartzell, and Chris Del Conte have delivered a message, and Steve Sarkisian received the message & bought in.

Very impressed with how articulate and forthcoming he is. He does not hesitate on any question as if he has his answer ready and he is anxious to tell it to you.
