Sarah Fuller

Congrats to her.
She is probably of the few good moments in Vandy Football this season.

Better good press than bad press.

Go Wylie where she is from.

How many times do you suppose she's been attacked by eleven grown men averaging 250 pounds? That is pressure for a 130 pound (just guessing) female doing it for the first time.

About zero. Any defensive player who put a hit on her would probably have lost his scholarship for being a meanie.

Plus Vandy had someone else kick the field goals and I assume the kickoffs as I didn't see anything about that, only the two extra points. Her kick last week, while HISTORY MAKING!!!, looked like a dead duck as it went a whopping 27 yards in the air and was recovered on the 35. Vandy could have shanked it out of bonds and gotten the same result.

It was all a publicity stunt. Vandy clearly had a better placekicker available which is why they used them for the harder tasks, then brought in the woman for media attention.

At least this dude served a vital role in the game:

Which leads you to believe that it was just a media event, not that she was their best option to kick the extra points.

The guy who kicked the FG's made one, missed one. Made was from 39 I believe, so far longer than the chip shot college extra point.

If a woman is a better kicker than any man then that's fine and send her out there. Or if all the other kickers are out with the Wuhan so she's all that's available (as was the narrative last week with the dead duck kickoff) that's fine too.

When neither of those is true, it's a fake stunt. At least the midget got on base when someone else might have struck out (dude had a 1.5 inch strike zone!).

It was an extra point lol ... but I disagree with mocking it ... I would have loved to see her nail a 57 yard FG ag Iowa State ... but that’s just me after a few beers

Her kickoff from a T went 27 yards (goal line is 65 yards away, and most real kickers send it way into the end zone).

So, a 57 yard attempt would have gone about 20 yards past the line of scrimmage, so the 20 yard line or so. Would have been funny for ISU to catch it, run it back for a kick-6, plus just level her during the run back. Welcome to football Sarah!

If she kicks the ball during live play, that's great, but if she then immediately runs off the field to avoid contact it's just publicity. I'd be marveling if she stayed out there and tried to make a tackle. If that's not an option for fear of injury she has no business being out there. You're either playing or you're not.

She's not even the first female to "play" - it's been almost 20 years since that happened. I realize it may be the first for a Power 5 team, but to make such a big to-do about it now is again, a stunt. :rolleyes1:

She's only kicked off once to my knowledge - the dead duck that went 27 yards and then was jumped on at the 35. So yes, the coaches have been protective of her to avoid her getting run off. It's all a stunt.

The worst was how she, before she'd even made the kickoff to open the second half, and hadn't played a down, was allowed to address the team during halftime, and tell them how she didn't like how little enthusiasm there was on the sidelines (team was down 24-0 or such, enroute to a 40-0 defeat or about).

Think about that for a minute. A player who:

Just joined the team
Hasn't played a down
Is the kicker

Is allowed to tell others that they are doing it All Wrong!!!

The coaches mush have had a meeting of the real players beforehand, and told them that their scholarships ships were on the line if the acted up, and unlike in the summer when the media awarded them all halos for matching and demanding Change!!!, this time the media would cheer their dismissal and being kicked off the team.

Admittedly, she would not be the first or only kicker to wuss out regarding contact. Look at how many kickers in the NFL are afraid of contact. And I don't believe it is just for fear of injuring their kicking leg...

Hardly a new thing...look at the Mayor Pete hype over being the first gay appointee in the Cabinet. Never mind that Trump had Grennell as both an Ambassador AND then appointed him as the DNI.

Too often, some are really disingenuous in their efforts to show how inclusive they are.
