Santa Clara series — SWEEP!

This year's team is really good.

In conference play, some good goals would be:

Win all but 2 series.
Never get swept.
Sweep 2 teams.

If we do that, we'd probably be neck-and-neck with UT-East, Auburn, LSU, or whomever else are the "big dogs" in the Southeast for the conference winner.

Here's the slate, in order:

If you told me right now they would win 6 of the 10 series and not get swept, I would take it. It has been an incredible pre-conference run but this is still a rebuilding year and we need to temper our expectations.

Of course, if I am totally wrong and this 2005 all over again I will ecstatic!

Not really a problem but the 2005 team didn't lose a game until game 17. They were never 13-1, they made it to 16-0. Like I said, not sure where he got it from and I don't really care, it's good company.

OK I get what you were saying now. I am not sure what RW's exact words were, but I am sure he meant 2005 was the last time we won 13 straight?

If my math is correct, you are hoping Texas has a 0.667 winning percentage in conference. I agree that makes the team a top 8 seed.

We are a deep team with talent, not sure yet if we have the starting pitchers to get series wins against LSU, Arkansas, Georgia yet. Before this season started, I felt like we were a 7-12 ranked team. Not expecting a title but I do believe this team will be as competitive as any team we’ve fielded in the last 10 years and we’ve had some good teams with great starting pitching but no depth. This year, amazingly, we have depth.

I’m wondering if Grubbs should move to starter and Harrison to reliever but I know schloss really likes Grubbs in the pen. Hamilton, Flores and Navarre looked dang good. We have lots of options, I feel we may lose a game or two before we finally figure out our roles and that’s ok, we want to be great at the end of the season..

If our hitting continues to be good, starting pitching just needs to keep the game close until later innings when our overall pitching depth becomes an advantage.

There will be days when the other team's pitching is pretty good - and the Longhorns won't be able to score 7+ runs. The team needs to be able to win some 3-2 and 2-1 games along the way.
