As usual the 2014 conference baseball tourney will take place in Oklahoma City (last 10 years, and 16 of last 18 years. Last time held in Texas was 2004...10 years ago.
Almost every year the conf basketball tourney is in Kansas City. (lately was 2010-2014, with 2 years left on contract). Last time was held in Texas was 2006...8 years ago.
There is no longer a football championship location so that's out.
Does anyone else feel it's complete and total ********* these locations monopolize the major men's tourneys? The same certain teams enjoy a large competitive advantage due to proximity for fans. Sure other teams win it, but they also have to defeat the greatly biased home crowds. In basketball that's a huge deal.
With 4 of 10 (40%) of the schools in the conference based in Texas, how in the hell do they allow that? The competitive advantage is large in itself for the usual suspects, but also the Texas fans get robbed. If we want to see major conf sports played for the highest stakes, we have to expend a ton of travel energy and also crank open the wallet. Only a small segment of Texas school fans desire to consistently do that when they shouldn't have to. While fans of some other schools basically drive a few hours and get a cheap ticket on an annual basis.
Guess I'm just saying it's pretty jacked up and fair rotations need to appear in the future. I loved watching conf tourney baseball a few times in Arlington in the early 2000's. Even the Big 12 Champ football games in Arlington and Houston were awesome. We are getting jilted with this nonsense.
