Sam: Dear Longhorn Family

*whew* thank goodness. I thought it was going to be one of those "I'm BAAAAAACK" videos.

I'm glad he was a Longhorn, but I think with this regime change, we're all ready for a page turn.

Goodbye, Sammy. You’re doing the right thing. Hope it works out. If it doesn’t, I’ll bet there will always be a place for you at UT.

SAM, you had as much grit and determination if not more than VY and Colt. You were a great leader, a greater person and inspired others around you. You gave 100% every play.....

Sam you are a Longhorn Legend!

Thank you and best wishes in the NFL. :hookem: :hookem:

If they based the Heisman on heart, Sam wins it hands down. Proud of him being a Longhorn. Never embarrassed himself or his school (the “We’re Baaaack” notwithstanding but I can cut him some slack). Best of luck Sam!! Hook ‘em! :hookem:

I'd prefer for today to remember how hard he worked, how much he gave, and how great he was. 3rd or 4th best QB we've ever had. The page turn can come later. Today, we should all just be thanking Sam for everything he did on and off the field. Singing the Eyes by himself. Leaders do what's right when no one is around. Great leaders do what's right when no one else will and it's out in public. He is one of if not the greatest leader we've ever had. He will be missed. And I hope he can finally get is body healed and make a team. He has an NFL body and maybe with a couple of years of not getting the crap beat out of him he'll make the next move successful too.

Thanks for giving us great effort, inspiration and some amazing comeback wins. Maybe we weren't the best Longhorns ever, but we certainly has some exciting games while you were our quarterback.

:hookem2: Hook em :bevo:

Sam was the leader we didn't have in perhaps the darkest hour of our program. He led with honor, integrity, and class, setting an example for others to follow.

Thanks, Big Guy, for all the great memories, and for always being a Longhorn.

Sam will always be remembered for his toughness, leadership, courage and unapologetic love for the University of Texas. He is Texas football as dukesteer said because you have to have more than one national championship every 30 years. You have to have something that binds everyone together in love of school and the sport itself. It's how it's played that matters. Sam played it right on and off the field. He was the person you'd send out to mid-field to represent the team and the university. There is no doubt that he understands the difference between love of school and the unfortunate problems that have plagued America. He stood for love of school and nothing else. There are very few people like that and that is why we continue to support the program even during a prolonged drought. Sam bought the program more time because he gave us something beyond victory.

He gave us pride.

He did the best he could with his talant. Too bad he was on some eh teams and lousy coaching that never developed him and continuously put him in situations that magnified the weakness in his game.

Go sit in the whirlpool everyday for a month then go see Michael Johnson in Dallas and work on your quickness and explosion then go be the next Tayson Hill.

Thank you Sam for all you have done for The University of Texas.

Come back as a coach some day

Sam is the toughest and most determined quarterback we've had in a long while. He had a will to get the job done and always kept fighting until the final gun. He put the team on his shoulders time after time the last four years and has absolutely has every reason to hold his head high. Disciplined and focused, he's a man among men. Sam knows where he's going in life and how to get there. I wish him the best of luck and great success in life. HOOK 'EM!

Best thing I can say is I’ll miss you Sam. No matter the situation I always felt with you in there we had a chance. Best wishes in anything you attempt - Hookem to a true Longhorn legend.

Sam

God Bless and wishing you all tlhe very best that life and the NFL have to offer. You have earned the admiration and respect of the entire Longhonr family. You always led by example and with great integrity and values. You were always a inspiration and example for others and a real asset to The University. I know that your mom at home and dad in heavan above are so very, very proud of you and the way you displayed not only your athletic gifts but also your integrity and character. Always remember that those things you exemplify do not happen by accident...you were blessed with great parents who instilled proper values and ethics and gave you real support and direction in your life. God Bless you, your family and may the Lord watch over you always. So proud that you were a Longhorn.

He carried the team on his back to achieve wins where we otherwise would have lost. He gave it his all, and set a good example for others in some difficult times. Good luck to Sam in all his future endeavors.

His legacy will be not just that he carried this team on his back on the field...but that he did so off the field, as well, through a difficult and challenging time.

While the wins and stats are great, Sam represents everything we should all strive for - strength, focus and determination, passion, hard work, love, sacrifice, and on and on. That's his legacy, and he exemplifies what it means to be a Longhorn.

Thanks for the memories Sam, and here's to tremendous success in the future. Hook'Em!
