Nice to start the year with a win and hopefully that 8th inning was a blip and not a sign of danger to come with the pen. French had a fantastic start and the bats were lively though on 14 hits I would have liked to see a few more runs. Knebel just didnt have it tonight but Marlow showed that he may be a force out of the pen by showing tremendous calm in getting out of a bases loaded and no outs with tying run on third situation.
Horns have a lot of growing up to do if they plan to challenge OU and TCU for the Big XII title and get back to post season play after a one year interregnum.
It sure beats losing, but a guy you been looking forward to
being a real contributor in Boardman and your All America
closer combine for no outs and five runs in an inning makes
you a little concerned. Not to mention they should have tied
it up, but made a bad base running mistake in that inning.
I know Knebel will most likely be ok, but that is a really bad start for Boardman.
It was an unusual Augie game in which hitting outpaced pitching and defense.
If those two facets can get on track and this team can continue hitting anywhere nearly as well as it did in its first game, this could be a decent team.
