Now in bottom of the fifth with Horns up 4-0 and first two batters on board. Parker French started and through 5 has given up 2 hits and struck out four. Horns have 10 hits with Payton leading the way 3 for 3.

Bases loaded with one out in bottom of the fifth and Horns now looking to blow open the ball game.

Passed ball scored 1 but then a fly out double play ended the inning. Horns lead 5-0 through five full.

yes, a game thread, I had to break down and get a
cbssports all access subscription just to listen on the
radio.

By the way OU beat Hofstra today 10-4 and Rice beat Stanford 5-1 and their stud pitcher Apel.

Also University of Illinois Chicago leads Aggy 2-0
in the fifth.

6-1 Horns right now in top of 8th but bases are loaded and no outs for Sac State. Knebel is on to try and shut this rally down and seal win.

French went seven full and only gave up three hits.

Double scores two and now it is 6-3 with runners on second and third and no outs.

Boardman started this fire facing four batters and giving up two hits, a HBP and a walk. Knebel has given up hits to first two batters he has faced. not a good show by the pen after French had an outstanding start.

And Knebel now walks the bases full. tying run on second and still no outs.

Wild pitch makes it 6-5. this is plain ugly as tying run is 90 feet from home and go ahead is now on second.

And now walk re-loads bases. Still no outs through 8 batters faced by two different pitchers.

Ty Marlow now on as Knebel faced four batters and gave up two hits and two walks and leaves bases loaded. not an auspicious beginning to the season for him.

Pick off throw catches runner at third for first out. huge base running error by Sac State and manna from heaven for Horns this inning.

FWHORN is doing an outstanding job, but you can also get game updates from @Texas_Baseball on twitter.

Thanks FWHORN!

Marlow induces a pop out to second base to end the inning and preserve the lead for the Horns. Sac State scores 5 though and what was a sleeper of a game at 6-0 is now a much too close for comfort 6-5 game headed to bottom of 8th.

Ok not sure what happened there but gametracker now says that there was no K for second out and that the pop out was just second out and that a k ended the inning.

Not sure what happened but it is now bottom of 8th and Horns lead 6-5.

Runner on third made a big mistake anticipating the
catch by Weis. He falls down making the catch, but
the runner is down the line.

If he stays on third he could have tagged up and
easily scored the tying run.

It keeps French in line for the win if we hang on.

Gametracker now says that Marlow gave up a single to the first batter he faced after the pickoff out and that loaded the bases followed by the pop out (as described by NBHorn) and then a K to end inning.

Stall hits into a fielders choice and two down with runner on first for Horns.

everything was under control when I left the game. you guys let it go to hell by the time I got home.

We had some great at bats tonight. Much better looking swings than last 3 years. I really like the aggressive base stealing too.

Hinojosa made a very nice scoop in the 1st inning. And Carter had a nice play at third. Overall I was very encouraged just by the little things I saw in the first 7 innings.

Weiss draws a walk and that brings up Payton who is 4-4 on the night with runners on first and second.

That induces a pitching change as fourth pitcher of night for Sacramento State now comes to mound to face Payton.

Payton K's to end inning and the threat. To the ninth we go with horns leading precariously 6-5.

Ty Marlow on for his second full inning of work trying to pick up the save for french who was outstanding.

Ground out and fly out for two quick outs
