Roschon Johnson

IMHO, Sam entered this year as a very good running QB and a fairly good passing QB. He is now operating at the level of a very good running QB AND a very good passing QB. He’s definitely our best since Colt and it’s not even remotely close.

The only caveat is actually a huge plus for the team—that is our OL is now so adept at pass blocking that Sam frequently has all day to throw.

RJ probably didn’t get enough credit for his performance last Saturday. The kid has become a real star, and a legitimate breakaway threat. If Texas decides to eventually move him back to the QB position, if he can develop into an accurate thrower, we will have something very special. Imagine the RPO game with him running the show.

I know that we all were very excited about our new RB this year, JWhitt. Well, we just might already have our freshman RB star. The initials are simply different.

And what a class kid...

Johnson needs to be working at QB. We are in deep **** if Sam goes down. Shame Rising left. Very disappointed we didn't see Gbenda run the ball tonight.
See the amount of playing time Thompson is getting ? THAT is why Rising left. The shame is that he left when he is probably the best passer Texas has had since Colt.

I thought Keontay still had a hangover the first couple of touches but than shook it off and looked great. Johnson may have more power but Keontay has more cutting and shiftiness. I trust Herman that he is no. 1. He was right on Sam when no one else, including me, agreed.
We won't know if he was right about Sam until we see Rising play next year.

If Roschon can pass the ball, he should be the next QB at Texas. He has “it”.
If he cant pass the ball, he is the starter at rb.

this is reasonable to assess. if the man can throw...

i'm just a person that believes the qb should be accurate before anything else. unless we intend to run 80% of the time

He can pass, but he is raw in technique and accuracy. There is a reason he did not pass Thompson on the depth chart.

I think Card is our next challenge at rising through the ranks at QB, but JQJ has jaw dropping athleticism if he can polish his skills. Jalen Milroe has"it" in spades and should be more developed by 2021.

If we get Ewers, and we have a very good chance to do so, we are going to have QB's like we have never seen before.

Think about it, Casey, ROJO, JQJ, Card, Milroe, and a good chance at Ewers. There is a good chance Ewers is the best of the lot.

I probably forgot somebody also.

I've read a few times that the coaches have to basically start from scratch teaching him how to throw the ball. He has been great at RB but might be two years away from being a serviceable passer.

And people want to get rid of Beck? I have never seen Texas with this much depth at QB. In a perfect world, After Sam leaves Casey will start for 1 or 2 years and then Rojo and Card will battle it out and in 5 years it will go to Milroe. I can't speculate any further out than that.

I've seen enough of Casey that I feel very comfortable with him as my starter. He doesn't run as well as Rojo but he is a fantastic passer. We just have to develop his decision making.

I would never omit JaQuinden Jackson from that group as he is as good an athlete as VY, but probably a better thrower (a low bar, I know) than VY at the same point in his career. But I never saw Vince in high school, but I have a couple of serious football friends who did.

Casey won't stay, won't start.
