Rockets/Lakers Game 2

It is truly amazing that the Rockets are tied at the half. Lakers started out super hot. Yao sat out 3/4 of the 1st half with 2 fouls. Stern is on the phone right now to the head of officiating to ask WTF is up.

There's never been a quieter home crowd when a game was tied at the half. Dead even score and you could have heard a pin drop as the players left the floor.

Kobe now starting the 2nd half just like he started the 1st. Houston hanging around, though.

You have to disguise your retaliation better than that.

Only question now is whether Fisher gets a suspension for game 3.

Fisher had to be ejected. He might as well have thrown a punch.

Lakers still have advantage due to Yao's foul trouble

Fisher s/b suspended for G3. Terry was in Spurs Game in '06. Pretty sure he was ejected for the punch to the junk followed by suspension in G5. Could be wrong on the initial ejection.

If ever there was a Flagrant 2 it was Fisher's foul. And Jackson's rationalization for something similar not being called in Jazz series is rediculous. The Guru Zinamaster wasn't thinking very quick on his feet.

Hook'em!!!

Artest seemed like he had been such a good citizen...until now.

Defninitely was elbowed by Bryant.

So Kobe elbows Artest in the throat, yet Artest picks up the foul. I can see why he would be upset. Typical NBA officiating.

I have absolutely nothing to add to this thread other than the fact that i REALY hate Kobe.

Im not completely sure why, but i put him in the same category as elite douchebags like Bonds, A-Rod, TO, Isaiah Thomas, etc.

That 4th quarter was one of the worst-reffed periods of any sport I've ever watched.

It actually started out bad for LA. Walton was called for a block just for playing good D and getting run into, then Vujacic's chest was called for blocking either Lowery or Brook's hand, then Walton cleanly strips the ball from Yao and gets called for the hack.

Then suddenly everything is reversed and Gasol pushes over Yao's back to tip in a rebound with no call, Battier is called for Kobe running into him, then Artest's throat is called for holding Kobe's arm, and then they eject him from the game for going over and talking to Kobe. Definitely deserved a T, but Kobe, LeBron, or Wade wouldn't get thrown out for that, since it didn't involve any sort of push or shove. Heck, hardly anybody but Artest (maybe Rasheed) would get tossed for running over to a player and jawing at him without attempting anything physically harmful.

And then after that point it's like the refs just said "We are tired of all these tempers, we'd better assert ourselves and take control of this game" and called every ticky-tack hint of contact imaginable.

Im mad...But I'm also excited about the passion and fight the Rockets once again displayed. Bring this series back to Houston and lets work them over.

And F Kobe.....and Odom for that matter.

This will be one crazy *** series. Weirdest things that happened in game 2:

1. Von Wafer getting ejected by his own coach - anyone else see this? Apparently Wafer had some choice words for Adelman and Adelman tell Von Wafer to hit the shower. This was like in the middle of the second half. Wth?

2. Derek Fisher turns around, looks at Scola coming to set a pick, takes a step toward Scola, and raises his elbow right into him. WTF? Are you serious Fisher? What did you think was going to happen? haha

3. Artest fouls Kobe under the basket, trying to push him out of position, Kobe elbows Artest in the throat to retaliate and Artest gets the foul. Artest decides to let his anger known to Kobe, approaches quickly, doesn't throw or show any physically aggressive action, and Artest gets ejected. Really? Talk about guilt by association.

Can't wait for game 3. It's gonna be on like donky-kong.

Artest was definitely a moron for getting the refs attention and then running across the court to yack at Kobe - but I still don't see why that warranted ejection.

I haven't watched a game yet. When they start at 10:30 ET in a sport where most games are decided in the last few minutes, it curbs my interest. I watched about 20 minutes last night with about half of it commercials, and then I went to bed. Surprisingly, the game went as I thought. Foul trouble for Yao. Lakers getting chippy. Poor officiating benefiting the home and national media team.

As a Lakers fan I will add that the Rockets are better when Yao is on the bench. They play much better transition D when he isn't slowing them down.

Aaron Brooks reminds me of Pookie. Dude is making everything he puts up.
If ANY of the Lakers start to hit open shots, Rockets are done..

Artest being ejected was wrong, but I'm glad Fish stepped up and attempted to send a message. Not a smart way to do it, but oh well.

He probably threatened to get kobe. Or maybe Crawford just had orders demanding a lakers win. Or both.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if kobe got his. Right in his smarmy I get away with anything kissy face that he puts on after every shot

I'm not sure how you can say that when he is the reason you lost game 1

Great game in the 1st half. Won't lie....I couldn't stay up for the 2nd half. Rockets were just shooting lights out in that 1st half to keep it tied. What a comeback they made b/c I thought they were going to get run out of the building early on.

All this talk about Kobe this and Kobe that is worthless. Seriously anybody actually enjoy these conversations? I would rather just talk about the basketball played on the court. And you gotta give it to Kobe....he is sneaky with those elbows....if you get to close to him he may move one of them in your direction.

You could read Artest's lips when he ran up on Kobe. he said:
"Kobe, hit me in my throat again. Hit me in my throat again. Hit me in my MF'ing throat again"
Kobe just threw his hand up and said "Get outta here."

Kobe pisses me off. He's so chippy, which is rather unusual for a superstar. The knee and elbow he dropped on Shane was very woman-like, when he acted like he was just getting up from the ground, but actually was throwing dirty, sneaky shots. then the elbow to Ron's throat.

Game 3 is going to be very interesting to say the least.

It's not the playoffs if there isn't assults, hard fouls, talks of suspensions, discussions of shenanigans by the refs/nba, and derek fisher being involved in some sort of controversy.

I hope ron ron "asults" kobe's pretty little face....and someone shanks fisher in the knee. Yeah, you send a message like that when one of your guys get's cheap shotted, which hadn't happened. that was weak, even though scola still kind of flopped on it, little fisher tried to throw all his weight into that. little chump. will be interesting to see how stern steers this...
