RIP Heath Ledger

Horrible, horrible tragedy.

He may have had some mental problems before the role, but playing a psychopath probably didn't help.

RIP.

Holy crap, I clicked on this thread thinking it had to be a joke about how some movie killed his acting career....

I was in a meeting for the last few hours and I just got out and opened yahoo and saw this and my heart and jaw both dropped.

As much as everyone hates on him, I have always liked him. He has really grown and improved as an actor these last few years.

I am truly saddened by this.

he was a very good actor actually, and was likely set for a very high level of fame and prestige with A Dark Knight. Really sucks bad for moviegoers, but I can't stop thinking of his 2 year old little girl. There is nothign in the world that could make me purposefully never see my daughter again. So brutal.

I honestly thought Ledger was going to be seen as Johnny Depp-esque in the next few years. Yeah, he had some ****** parts in ****** Hollywood movies early on, but deep down the guy was an actor on his way to being an artist. Despite all of the sophomoric jokes out there it took great courage for him (and Gyllenhal) to give the tremendous performances they did in Brokeback Mountain. I read somewhere that the reason why Christopher Nolan cast him as The Joker in 'The Dark Knight' was because Nolan felt that Ledger was fearless as an actor.

There's no telling what he could have achieved. I know it's not fair to either of them, but this reminds me of River Phoenix's death.

per the lin priovided NOT the Olsen twins apt...

Paul J. Browne, the Police Department’s deputy commissioner for public information, initially said that the apartment was owned by the actress Mary-Kate Olsen, but later reversed himself and said that was not the case.
A representative of Ms. Olsen said that the apartment did not belong to the actress. “It is not her apartment,” the representative, Annette Wolf, a publicist for Ms. Olsen, said in a phone interview. “She does not own the apartment. She has never owned the apartment. She and her sister have an apartment in New York City but they are not in this building.”

I saw him in "Candy" a while back where he plays a troubled drug addict and it got me to thinking about how a lot of the characters he portrays are tormented types. His characters in "Brokeback" and "Monster's Ball" were two others that come to mind. Even some of his lighter characters seemed to have a darker side to them. Sometimes art imitates life, or vice versa.

RIP

Fuckin A Jive Turkey! TPE was the first thing I thought of when I heard it on the radio and I just cracked up at juz's post.

Prayers for the guy and his family.

Wasn't he also in that movie "Lords of Dogtown"? He was a tormented soul, if that was him, in that movie as well.

This sucks.

He was in that band, "Silverchair"?
