Rice to Omaha

Yes we've been good since the '90s. Guess when the SWC broke up. (Okay, so we only won the final SWC tourney... still...)

If you were to put any more than 4 conferences ahead of C-USA for baseball, I'd be curious as to what they would be.

Lastly, if you look at all C-USA vs Big XII matchups this year, you'll find that C-USA leads 12-6; sure you could make a case for backing out Rice's record vs Big XII, but if you do that you should also drop the Big XII's best performer. If you drop Rice (9-1 vs Big XII) and Ags (3-1 vs C-USA teams not named Rice), the season is even at 2-2.

But sure, it must be playing in POS conference that has gotten Rice into the CWS ... we all know that it's almost impossible to lose a regional at home or win a Super on the road.

A couple of points- Rice has actually had many more kids drafted during the last three years than we have. This year they had 11- more than any other cws team. I think the biggest difference is that you have two kinds of kids coming out of high school, those who want to go to a big state schools and those who don't. The reality is that Texas is not a good fit for everyone and neither is Rice. The other reality is that Wayne owns those who don't want a big state school and there are lots of schools competing for the ones who do. For kids who want to go to the cws, Graham can make a really good argument as only Miami has been there more since the super regional format began. I would also say that as much as Wayne likes Rice ( for obvious reasons) he also has a soft spot for UT. If any of you ever had the chance to talk with him you would find that although he wants to win those games more than anything, he has great respect for UT and Coach Garrido in particular.

Big West better than C-USA this year? Check your math.

Teams making tournament: Big West 4, C-USA 5. Advantage C-USA.

Teams making regional final: Big West 2, C-USA 5. Advantage C-USA

Winning Regionals: Big West 2, C-USA 1. Adv Big West

Making CWS: Big West 0, C-USA 1, Adv C-USA.

It's obvious C-USA is a better baseball conference than C-USA this year.
