Report site issues/questions here

Are we really going with the same posting guidelines? I was excited to see the site get out from underneath Katy's repressive rule and finally move forward. You can't talk about coaches needing to be fired? Really?

I responded privately to this but let me say this publicly. I don't want to limit conversation about these things. I would like to keep the tone fairly civil and respectful though, and I think most folks are agreeable to that.

I'm open to constructive suggestions on how we can make Hornfans better, including improving the guidelines. However, there's no point in calling out previous admins or moderators. Whatever disagreements there were in the past, that's done and we won't rehash it here.

It's been talked about in the basketball forum, so no it's not totally taboo and really shouldn't be as long as people don't get out of hand either way.

This humble moderator also agrees. Bringing up stuff like firing of coaches is what fans do. All of us fans have thoughts on such things. Keep it civil and don't act like the coach in question has been an axe murderer when you post on such volatile topics. If there is no basis for your post, other posters will call you out on it. If anybody gets out of hand with name calling, some of us gentle peace-loving moderators can hopefully calm everybody down :) ... Just have fun, folks. Life is too short.

Props to the czar!

Is there an admin type forum to post new topics about the forum itself? Suggestions for the site, etc...

I'm honestly glad to be back. Different forums are good for different things. I hope that we can get back some great posters and restore the greatness of the sports boards.

Actually this would be the best forum for that, at least for now.

Agreed. I think it’s a great thing that we Longhorn fans have a diversity of sites to choose from. Everyone can find their favorite and have a place to hang out.

Am I missing something? :

Just like I have started this post - I went to Mudhorn's 1st post, then hit the 'reply' button. Even though I didn't use the 'quote' button, my active reply area shows Mudhorn's original text ... then I discovered that using the 'undo' icon does just that - it deletes mudhorn's original. There seems to be no option under my acct. IOW, why does the site automatically add the original text. (I get one use of 'quote' button, talked of, elsewhere, in this thread).

You’re right, this can be confusing.

The Reply option defaults to quoting the post because in some cases that's what is wanted to indicate what exactly is being replied to -- otherwise there is no real context to the reply. As you said, clicking the Undo button quickly clears that out. Another way to have an empty Reply box is to just scroll down to the box and enter your post. In this case you are not really "replying" to anyone, you're just posting on the thread.

The “+Quote” option (Multi-quote) in the popup menu is a special feature that allows the user to select multiple text snippets from different posts and quote/respond to all of them in a single post. This prevents you from having to manage all of that manually.

Does that help?

Yeah, Thanks & I now believe the Q has more to do w/ a mid-age moment... you've already replied about this... I didn't search much, obviously !

Does that help?

It would be nice to have the ability to post Twitter tweets which show the actual tweet rather than just a link to the tweet. There's another site which incorportates the BB code e.g., [tweet='569652131747074048'] and displays the tweet in your post. Any chance of activating this feature?

OK, I am opposed to a trophy for "participation" and I do not have a trophy wife, but I see there are "trophy points" on this website. Maybe someone asked the question already but I don't want to read through 97 posts to find it.

On the new and improved HF how does one get trophy points - call out Taps or say I used to hate it when Mack claps after a player gets a penalty or commits a stupid play?

@WorsterMan The original thread where I answered this for someone else is here, and I’ll put the answer in this post also.

Trophies are a feature of this forum software that I have disabled for now. It’s really kind of a silly (in my opinion) hierarchy of messages you would receive based on your number of posts and likes. You can see an example of the default setup here and get an idea of what kind of messages you would get based on your post counts and “likes” received.

With everything else that needed to be done to get the site ready for launch, the trophy system was just very low on my radar, so I decided to disable it and focus on the more essential stuff.

I am good with that - you stalwarts that got the new site going have plenty to worry about. We don't need no stinking trophies - we just need a QB that gets it done!

@Godz40acres I spoke with a software developer today and I think we may have the Twitter function coming, as well as the ability to embed Hudl videos into our posts. He is working on something for me so I hope to have an answer within a couple of days.

Nice job, Dionysus! One of those would be sooper; both of those would be sooperdooper.
