For someone who has been battling injuries since mid-December, Destiny Littleton definitely has the best body language on the bench, especially when you factor in her challenges.

As for a medical redshirt, I don't think she's eligible since she played in about 8 games from November to December. I think to be considered for a medical redshirt a player cannot play in 25% of the regular season games (or something like that), and her injuries have to be season-ending.

Since Destiny is no longer wearing warmups on the bench (signifying she is not available to play in a game), I think that's a sign that she could play when called upon. Why she is not seeing the court in mop-up duty does make things confusing.
 
The reality is that it’s really hard to find playing time for bench players when there are players in front of you playing the same position. These are the things that recruits need to look at and do their homework in when they’re making their decision on what school they want to attend. Some players like Sug are willing to wait and learn for a year or two to get valuable playing time. While others want to play right away as a freshman.

Players and parents need to really do their research and decide whether they are willing to sit and wait to get playing time for a year or two or they want to go to a school where they can get playing time right away.

In the press conference, Geno refused to comment on their lack of playing time.

Everyone In, Except …
Freshman guards Megan Walker and Mikayla Coombs were the only players who did not enter the game.

“Yeah, I'm not even going to waste my time talking about them,” Auriemma said.

Off the bench, Azura Stevens played 21 minutes, Molly Bent 11, Kyla Irwin 16, Batouly Camara seven and Lexi Gordon four.

Walker was coming off a pretty good performance — 10 points and six rebounds in 18 minutes against Temple. Coombs played 10 minutes against Temple, scoring three points.

Auriemma was asked if the decision was simply a function of the way they practiced leading up to the game but he did not offer any thoughts.

Since we are on the subject of Megan and Geno; Megan, Mikayla Coombs and Lexi Gordon of UConn are in Big D getting ready for the SMU game on Saturday.

 
I wonder if UConn recruits realize they may have to put up with humiliation and verbal abuse when they sign up to play for Geno. I still can't get over the things he said about Andra Espinoza-Hunter. Is that part of his motivational genius, or just a guy who is full of himself being a jerk?

One thing anyone who follows Geno has to admit is that he is who he is. He's like that in any forum i've ever seen him. No matter if its ESPN, Showtime, CBS or anywhere in between. He's going to tell you as he see's it and that isn't always nice and sweet. I think he partially gets a bad wrap in the sense that people only focus on his negative comments but when kids exceed his expectations or reach their potential he lauds them just as much. Those comments don't seem to get as much play.

But to answer your questions, recruits know exactly who he is before the sign up to play for him. And same can be said for our coach. Anyone who's spent time at practice will tell you that KA lets the ladies know exactly where the stand and what she thinks of their performance.
 
I partially agree, but Geno gets far more praise (out and out worship by many, on the UConn board anyway) than criticism. Obviously every coach has a unique personality, including Karen, but I have never seen her, most certainly not Jody, or most coaches for that matter, say humiliating things about players in public forums. That's really not cool. Keep it in the practice. There are lot of different ways to "tell it like it is."
 
I really like Aston and think the best times are ahead. In addition to the obvious upturn in team results, I just get good vibes from her. She is smart, articulate and has my type of humor.....just very personable. The only time I have met her was via telephone when she called about one of our AAU players while as an assistant under Conradt. Very easy to talk with. After the call ended, I thought that someday she would be a very good head coach. She is that now. We can help her now by pointing out places for improvement on message boards(said sarcastically). I am glad she is here now rather than Mulkey or Geno. By the way, think Walker might get fed up with Geno and transfer to Texas? As I remember it, we were a close number 2 for her services. Would be a good 2019 player.

Saw some pretty bad body language from Rellah. When the team was playing down on the other end of the court, the whole team was facing that direction to see the action, except Rellah who was looking down into her hands. And when some great play happened, the team - except Rellah - jumped up to clap and cheer. Man, I hope this is not a bad sign.

She does have a "tude" problem, for sure...hope she matures out of it, as we need her, and she could really be a Rock Star on this team..Sometimes just wanna shake her and say "Snap Out of it Big Girl!! It is NOT all about you!!"...smh...:e-thinking:

I hope this is coming from some firsthand internal knowledge that you have because if this is just based off of what we see in snippets of the game its a pretty negative picture to paint of the kid
 
I don't know what these posts from racer and BBV are talking about. Six weeks ago, I was worried about what was going on with Rellah, but I sure haven't seen it from the TV broadcasts over the last several games. (Maybe those observations are only obvious when you're at the games.)
 
I am fond of saying our best and worst character traits are sometimes the same or at least within a hair's width of each other. With just a little maturation (may not be the right expression, but the best I can come up with right now), Rellah's unabashed confidence can be a great thing for both her and the team - just what the team needs, in fact. I prefer to let other teams make fun of Rellah's brash statements and criticize our coaches' efforts to help her develop as an individual and a team member. I am hoping Texas fans get the last laugh. Could still be this year! Rellah's rebounding ability alone can help us win games.
 
If Rellah was going to transfer, it would have happened already. She’s fine. Based on how she played tonight against OU, there is no way she doesn’t recognize she has a lot to learn. She got stuffed more than once trying to go up under the basket and missed a three. She’ll get there, I have no doubt. But I don’t think she is unaware of why she doesn’t get more minutes. She’s being asked to step up without Audrey and I admire that she is trying her best. I bet she has monster seasons next three years.

It’s Joyner I’m more worried about. Where did her shot go????
