Recruiting is blowing up...

In addition to the recent posts of Donald Hawkins & Brandon Moore in town for last weekend for visits, there's additional news on DGB, Kendall Sanders, Marcus Johnson & Javonte Magee, Adrian Colbert and ...

DBG (Dorial Beckham-Green) visited K. ST. weekend and he & his family had as great a time as could be expected with the other Texas commits at the game with the other recruits as well in Austin and with the staff just as much.

Kendall Sanders, Athens, Tx (Ok. State commit) is back in the picture... so much so that he was offered when he was in town within the last few days... gotta like this!

Marcus Johnson, League City, Tx (Texas Tech commit) has de-committed from Tech in the last day or two and is talking with both the Texas coaches and the ATM staff as well. Rumor has it he will be at the game this eve!

Javonte Magee, San Antonio, Tx was at the ATM last weekend on a visit and now Texas is trying to schedule him for the football banquet on the Dec. 9th! If he makes it to Austin, gotta like Texas chances with pulling this kid in for the good guys.

Adrian Colbert, Mineral Wells, Tx (Baylor commit) was supposed to be in Austin for the K. St. game & didn't make it, instead going to the Baylor/Ou game. He is scheduled to be in Austin for the football banquet on the Dec. 9th as well! Even though he's a Bu commit, he's been a long time Longhorn fan and like Magee, you gotta like Texas' chances when he shows up on campus. It's looking like he's narrowed it down to between Bu & Texas.

And with tonight's ATM win, it will only get better!

Marcus Johnson committed to aggy. From what I can tell, Texas didn't offer Johnson, so he went with aggy. It appears you can scratch Johnson. Johnson's loss may help marginally with Sanders since Sanders still wants a shot at WR.

Well, DBG is the big prize, but would love for Sanders & Moore to go ahead & pull the trigger. Colbert & Hawkins & Magee are also on Xmas wish list so heck, I want 'em all !!!
C'mon guys - make that call. Operators are standing by at Macks house to assist you.

For those in the know:

What position are we talking to Sanders about?

Is Magee considered a future T or DE?

I don't see anything on the web about Colbert. What's the scoop on him? He looks to be skill position based on his size but I couldn't find anythig else.

Sanders has been told he can play WR if he wants to. The only thing I know on Colbert is that he is one who has blown up in the last few months as far as speed talent.

OSU Scout Forum says Sanders has decommited as of today.

Football Banquet weekend is shaping up to being one helluva recruiting weekend with commits & recruits coming in... an update will be provided next week when we have a firm list!

Kendall Sanders told the Athens paper that he wants to announce at Army AA game.

30 minutes ago there were 2 threads on texgags quotting a tweet from Trey Williams saying he had a lot to think about and didn't want anyone calling or texting him until he had time to figure things out.

the threads are gone now.

this coupled with them criticizing Marcus Johnson for coming to the banquet is fun to read.

but....

w/ MJ coming - probably to confirm an offer - and increased interest in Sanders, I gotta think the staff figures DGB isn't coming to Austin.

but that could be okay if we get MJ and KS.

Kendall Sanders, Athens, Tx COMMITTED 12/3/11 Will be at the Banquet this weekend!

Marcus Johnson, League City, Tx COMMITTED 12/4/11 Will be at the Banquet this weekend!

Javonte Magee, San Antonio, Tx had his scholarship pulled is what I'm hearing. So it's between the ATM & Baylor from what I hear.

Adrian Colbert, Mineral Wells, Tx (soft Baylor commit) was at the Texas/Baylor game and left at halftime due to the weather back up north. He is still scheduled to be in Austin for the football banquet on the Dec. 9th as well!

Will have an update on all visitors in a couple days...

What's up with this? Anyone know why they pulled his scholarship?

Has Mac ever pulled a scholorship because we found a better player? I do not remember it happening. It must be grades or some kind of trouble.

Another possible reason is scholarship numbers....22 verbals at this point.....21 acholarships known to becoming available (graduations, transfers). Only three more commitments available for 2012 (25 per year limit) and these will come from additional attrition, if they come at all.

There are still 7 offers to uncommitted players on the table according to Rivals if Magee's is retracted. They are WR Green-Beckham, WR/Ath Agholor, OT Peat, DE Autry, DE Armstead, DT Goldman and CB Colbert. This does not include players committed to other schools that are still being courted by Texas - Mario Edwards, Landon Collins, Torshiro Davis, others?

Recent commitments lead me to believe we are done at WR, Athlete and maybe OL. Goldman has not been interested in some time so his offer is questionable in my mind. Remaining recruiting need areas are DB and DE based solely on numbers.

Remember Juco's or mid-termers can count against last year's 25, so we can sign up to 29 if the right guys say yes to the remaining spots. In other words, Hawkins and any other other Juco are not counted against the 25 of this year.

Goodness gracious, Mack is assembling the Roman Legions with this class. With a couple of key additions, I think it is actually going to be better than the 2002 class. Wow. Incredible!

Tthanks bishophorn, I had forgotten that. Not much recent experience with jucos around here.

But the 85 limit still applies as far as I can tell. I don't think this is an issue due to the transfers during this past season.
