Rangers-Angels

Almost game time tonight. Gonna be a tough one of course, Feldman has been pitching well as of late but Lackey has been very strong this year. Lackey gave up 5 in his last start but gave up 1, 1, and 0 runs in the previous three. Should be a good game hope the Rangers can take 3 of 4.

WTF was Ron Washington doing with Feldman?

You can't use "trying to save the bullpen" as an excuse when you have already gotten a guy warmed and ready in the pen.

Well that was a disappointing ending. Get a gift on the popped up bunt, runners on 1st and 2nd no outs. All Kinsler has to do (granted bunting is not that easy) is get a bunt down. He bunts at a pitch he should've taken for a ball and pops it up.

Then Vazquez has a good at bat but does not swing at the 3-2 pitch even though he's got to know that Rodriguez can't afford to load the bases for young. Gotta atleast take a hac in that situation.

Young got the bat on the ball just couldn't get it through the hole.

Good comeback tonight, just wasted some opportunities in the extra innings. Oh well on to tomorrow.

get to go to the game friday night. probably be some 9-2 game. but, it is another division leader and R's certainly proved they could play with this last one.

20 hits and all the Rangers needed was one more in the 8th, 9th, 10th, or 11th to win. Dang!!! Good series in all given the pitching. Now please take 2 of 3 against the White Sox; I can't stand them, especially Pierzinski.

Wow. Rangers game tonight was GRRRRREAT!!! Mendoza actually pitched 6 innings and Rupe, Madrigal and Eddie finished it. Don't think the Sox expected the offensive onslaught. Lots of fun in the stands too. Fans were living it up. Good times.

hey guys....Mendoza just called and he wants all of you to kiss his ***

That right there is why they keep giving him chances

He'll let's just sweep the sox

Need to beat up on ranks tonight or people will be crying about that trade even more

They raised Danks era tonight but not by much. Our "ace"continues to not be able to get out of the 6th inning.

But...R's keep hanging with the big boys.

The grit of the Rangers bodes well for the future. But remember - this year is not about contending, it's about developing. And developing is a process, not an event. The young pitchers are talented, but they are young and need to continue to develop. The offense is very capable of contending, but there's still room for growth there - too many young hitters taking called third strikes, for example.

Patience, Ranger fans - patience.

Agree with Hornhusker. To add, there have been too many 4 pitch walks as well as walks to lead off innings for our pitchers. These walks, however, have not been limited to the young pitchers. It seems to be an epidemic for our entire pitching staff including millwood and padilla.

Rangers' radio announcer today (7/13): "This is like [watching/being at] a slow pitch softball game. Neither team can get anyone out with any consistency."

At least our offense is on. Go Rangers.

When your closer has a 5 ERA you know you're in trouble. Thank god he somehow found the wherewithal to reach back and strike out Thome and Konerko.

Well, winning the White Sox series was good. CJ is going to have to pick it up a bit though. Maybe he can do some video work and figure out what he can improve on. I know, I know, we need K-Rod but this is probably who we'll have to go with. Congrats to the All-Stars....would love to see Josh win the HR contest.

Today's game is a reasonable representation of the Rangers for this season - lots of offense, grit and determination, never quit, and shaky pitching. I certainly hope Nolan and JD are watching carefully as the trading deadline approaches. This is not a time to be a buyer - do not trade top prospects for proven starting pitchers! If anything, be alert to the potential to trade a veteran for top pitching prospects. I'm not sure that the Rangers have any veteran I'd want to trade, but just to pick a name out of the hat for discussion purposes, let's take Eddie Guardado. He has definitely added to the bullpen this year, but shouldn't figure into the long-range (2-3 years) plan - if somebody in a pennant race wants to trade us a AAA pitching prospect for Eddie so they can have a closer or set-up man down the stretch, that would be a trade to consider.

Meanwhile, we as Ranger fans should just sit back and enjoy seeing this bunch of young ballplayers progress. We should also keep an eye on the minors to watch the young pitchers develop - that's the long-range plan for this team.

I agree that it's been pretty entertaining. It's a little frustrating to think where the Rangers would be if Volquez, Danks, Doug Davis, and Chris Young were in the rotation.

The team has a solid core of offensive producers- Kinsler, Young, Hamilton, Bradley, with other young guys evolving- Davis, Ramirez, Boggs, etc. They need to keep with these guys and focus on pitching over the offseason. No need to go out and trade away prospects for more offense or old pitching.

no getting around that chris young was traded for what turned out to be nothing. injured this year and he hasn't done much lately. Danks having stellar season and McCarthy's injured so this goes as a negative for R's for now. Doug Davis was dropped many years ago and there's lots of **** like that that happens.

LIke trading Gagne who was #1 Closer at the time and has gone to **** since then. Trading Ricardo Rodgriguez for Padilla who has 10 wins at the break this year. So the negative trades always are referenced but there are good ones too and some are just "that's the way baseball is." And in the end, you hope you make more good 'uns than bad 'uns.

If we trade Eddie Guardado, I might like to see Neftali Feliz come up in the set-up man role (depending on what he does in his next two starts at Frisco). Then perhaps we could give him the Joba Chamberlain treatment and convert him back to a starting pitcher.
