Started a huge 4-game set tonite. LA exploded on Mendoza for 9 runs, 8 earned in only 1.1 innings pitched. Texas has fought back and it's 8-6 top of 7th.

Harrison has been a pleasant surprise tonight. Other than the 5th inning and the walk, double, dink single, he has been lights out. A little run support would be nice. Nice blast by Chris Davis.

Terrific outing by Matt Harrison. Great offensive comeback to take the lead. Nice job by Eddie for the Hold. I just wish CJ wouldn't make it so exciting in the ninth to close it.

Mrs. HHD and I are going to the game tonight (as part of my season ticket mini-plan). Hope we see a similar showing by the starting pitcher tonight (whoever it may be).

Thanks, OUE. I actually got Mrs. HHD to agree to a mini-pack this season, and so far she enjoys the outing to The Ballpark. She has picked up on who the Ranger players are by name and number. She cheers when the Rangers make a great play and groans when they don't. She still doesn't understand the nuances of sending the runner, the hit-and-run, and other fine points, but she's getting there.

I'm one of those freaks who lives and dies with the Rangers. I've been a fan since day 1 -- my dad took mama, my sister and me to Opening Day in 1972, and I've been hooked ever since. I actually saw TAG play baseball! (He was not very good, but he was cute.)

Shadowdancer and I have a bunch of ticket vouchers we need to use. We've been to fewer games this season than we've ever gone to.

This is a young, exciting team to watch and I hope we continue to improve. I don't expect to win the division this year or next, but the foundation is in place for a contender starting in about 2010.

YYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! Hamilton smacks game-winning 2-run homer bottom of the 9th off Rodriguez. Eat it Angels. Now take game 4 tomorrow and get it to 5 1/2.

Was following along on MLB Gamecast on espn.com and felt almost as tense as I would if I were actually watching the game. When the scoreboard flips from 3-4 to 5-4 I screamed almost as loud as if I were watching it (I'm sure I'll get evicted from my Houston hotel!). Just now saw the replay on tv. AWESOME! Josh looked so unbelievably happy running around the bases. How wonderful!!!

Hell of a job by Hamilton. Young has been getting his groove back too which is much needed. Once again the pitching did well and the bullpen held up fairly well.

GREAT Ending!!!

When Josh came to bat with Michael on first and two outs, even Mrs. HHD knew to stand and yell her head off. And When Josh hit the line drive and I yelled "GET OUTA HERE!", she jumped!

I'll claim the credit for this W - every time I've been to The Ballpark this season, Josh has hit a homer. And when they got him to the plate as the winning run in the bottom of nine, after he had gone 0-for-4, I told Mrs. HHD "this is the time for a walk-off dinger."

Give Madrigal credit - as badly as he got lit up in the Bronx, the kid responded with a quality three innings last night. Rupe pitched well. Francicso made one bad pitch. And Wright threw well. If this team can get the pitchers healthy, it will set up a very interesting 2009 season.

Well, I am an idoit. A sleepy idoit, but an idoit nonetheless. I was having so much trouble keeping my eyes open last night, I shut off the TV after the bottom of the 8th and went to bed.

Serves me right!

I got in the car to come to work this morning and still had the radio on 1080, and the first thing I heard was, "Josh Hamilton hit a walk-off homer to lead the Texas Rangers over the Angels last night."

And I missed it.

I am giddy with excitement about this team. They are such fun to watch, and they kind of remind me of the Yankees of 1998 -- when one guiy goes into a slump, someone else picks it up and keeps the team going.

Plus I have a major thing for Josh Hamilton. He's hot.

Texanne,
You're forgiven - "oh, ye of little faith." It was a terrific finish with the three runs scoring after two were out. Not very often you see K-Rod blow a save opportunity and turn it into a loss. BTW, you missed "Dollar Hot Dog Night" yesterday!

Your penance is to drive to Arlington and come see these exciting young Texas Rangers play at The Ballpark. Spend lots of money in Arlington and help us retire the bonds for the Boss Hog Bowl!

I don't watch that many games during the regular season. But my girlfriend went to bed early last night, so I watched from the 4th on. I was really close to turning it off in the eight as well, But I looked at the lineup for the ninth and thought "What the hell. It could happen"

I woke my girlfriend up.

Madrigal has responded nicely since his acrimonious debut in NY. He's pitched in 3 additional appearances and shown good poise and nice stuff. I was surprised they decided not to bring up Ballard only 1 hour before gametime. I'd guess the decision was made before then, but it wasn't released to the media until then.

Does anyone else wish they'd decide to roll with a rotation of the following?

Millwood
Padilla
Feldman
Hurley
Nippert

I wish Harrison could fit in there somehow, but I think he needs to continue to have success in Oklahoma. I suppose we could allow Harrison to take Nippert's spot, but I think Nippert is more ready for a longer stay. It wouldn't be a great staff, by any means, but all those guys compete and have above average stuff (Millwood is slipping, I know). And I'd give anything not to see Gabbard again. I like the kid, but if you only have average stuff, which he does, you must have pinpoint control, which he does not.

Glad you had fun, HHD! I wish we didn't live on the other side of town. I'd go to more games.

Wow, I really like the no BS attitude that Hamilton brings to our team. With him, and Millwood, Young, and Kinsler, we have some guys that are some bad *** SOB's. I think Hamilton though has brought a nastier attitude this year to our team.

Someone said it earlier and do not misunderstand the magnitude of the attitude and vision that Nolan Ryan has brought to this club as well. We would have never seen some of these guys called up to make starts in previous years. Also, you think Nolan is going to make bad decision after bad decision regarding young pitchers like previous personnel decisions? There is now way he would have authroized John Danks for Brandon McCarthy nor the Chris young-Adrian Gonzalez trade to the Padres. Just dont ever let Mendoza pitch again, please!

The MVP is Hamilton right now, but very close behind him is Kinsler.....They guy has hit in like 55 out of his last 60 games or something....Leads the AL in average and runs, XBH, T5 in Steals, the list goes on and on....

I went to go pick up dinner in the bottom of the 7th. I almost turned the game off, but decided, "Screw it, I'll just pause the game and watch it when I get back." Very happy with my decision.

OUE, I agree with you on Matt Harrison. Based on his start against the Angels, you've certainly got to like what you saw, but he does need to complete the year with the 89ers. I'd also like to see what McCarthy can do when he's healthy.

KRLD said that the reason Ballard was not called up was that it would fill the last remaining spot on the 40-man roster, leaving the Rangers with no additional flexibility Guess I can go with that.

BTW, OUE, haven't heard an update from you in a while - how's your health?
