Who made this up??? I would think fan hatred, attendance, sell outs, 50+ years of tradition and TV viewership shows what are the greatest rivalries. That's why Texas / OU, Ohio State / Michigan, Florida / Georgia, Alabama / Auburn and Army / Navy are the greatest. All the others are just football games.

It's definitely because of the lost $$ per team by further diluting the grand total with the likes of UH, Cincy, and UCF. Even with a vacated Texas and OU, it'd still be less money per team just arithmetically.

I think the lack of foresight on this problem is that every bidder in the form of TV networks knows that it's not worth nearly as much without Texas and OU. So instead of someone like Fox coming to the table with "x dollars divided by 12," it's going to be more like "(x-30%) divided by 12," to which the remaining ADs will be like "there's no way Texas and OU are worth that much!" and the networks will respond with "actually they're closer to 50% but we were cutting you a deal."

They'd be smart to figure out the remaining Pac situation and going into a megacontract for that stuff.
