Because of saturation. You can watch virtually every game now on ESPN+. The US population also went up by about 10M from 2017 to 2023, so naturally there are more viewers. That’s doesn’t necessarily mean that the sport is in good shape or that the portal, NIL, and realignment have been good for the sport.
