Some snippets:

Criminal activity imposes huge costs on black residents in low-income neighborhoods of cities such as Chicago, Baltimore, Detroit, St. Louis, Philadelphia and many others. Thousands of black Americans were murdered in 2019. . . The high homicide rate within the black community doesn't begin to tell the full tragedy.

Crime imposes a hefty tax on people who can least afford it. They are the law-abiding residents of black neighborhoods. Residents must bear the time cost and other costs of having to shop outside of their neighborhoods. Supermarkets that are abundant in low-crime neighborhoods are absent or scarce in high-crime, low-income neighborhoods. Because of the paucity of supermarkets and other big-box stores in these neighborhoods, some "experts" and academicians have labeled them as "food deserts." That's the ridiculous suggestion that white supermarket merchants and big-box store owners don't like green dollars coming out of black hands. The true villains of the piece are the criminals who make some businesses unprofitable. The high crime rates in many black neighborhoods have the effect of outlawing economic growth and opportunities.

Many make the erroneous assumption that black people don't care about crime. But black people strongly disapprove of the day-to-day violence that's all too common in their communities. What compounds that problem is a deep mistrust of police in poor black neighborhoods. This distrust, along with fear of reprisals by black criminals, causes an atmosphere of noncooperation with the police. It creates the "stop snitching" principle. This principle of snitches being worse than criminals themselves only exacerbates the crime problem in black communities by giving aid and comfort to the true enemies of the community — those who prey on the community and have little fear of being brought to justice. In some cities, less than 10% of murderers are ever charged....

The problem isn't the Somalis. It's woke, liberal white people. I used to assume that district was a broke-*** poor, gerrymandered black district like most districts held by black members. It isn't. It is 63 percent white. It's median age is 33.7 - almost five years younger than the statewide average. Its per capita income is just slightly below average for the state, but the poverty rate is quite a bit higher. It is disproportionately single rather than married. Housing units are overwhelmingly multi-unit (lots of apartments). It has more college-educated citizens than the rest of the state and the country. It is more foreign born than most districts with a large percentage of those persons being from Africa, but we're still only talking about 5 percent of the district being from Africa (probably few of whom vote). What does that tell you? It's not a bunch of black immigrants electing Ilhan Omar. It's a bunch of self-flagellating, single, woke, college-educated white liberals - our favorite kind of people.

The district has been Democratic for decades, but they've just gone from bad to worse. For a long time, it was represented by Martin Sabo. He was basically your average liberal Democrat but like most politicians from that area, not particularly obnoxious or vitriolic. He was replaced by Keith Ellison, who was a big stepdown, but he at least faked not hating Jews. Now the wheels have completely come off, and they've elected a unapologetically hate-riddled freak. There is no pretense anymore.

In cases where the race of the offender was known, 54.9% were black, 42.4% were white, and 2.7% were of other races.

Of course, the explanation for this is that we "over-police" minority neighborhoods, which wildly skews the statistics. In reality, police tend to patrol areas where crimes are reported. Whitey must have been hanging in the hood to be victimized if that were true. Just think how much worse those statistics would look if police ever decide to return to policing black folks in Baltimore.
