Everything ultimately revolves around the play of this one man. I'm not sure if Sam comes back or not. I hope he does, but we can't expect it. Here's who else we have:

Casey -- has shown some promise, but no wow factor as of yet. Still an unknown.
Casey_Thompson.jpg

Hudson -- hasn't even had much of a chance to show any promise, but has grown a stache. Still an unknown.

Ja'Quinden Jackson -- if he fully recuperates from his injury, I think he is likely THE guy going forward. But, as with the others, he's still an unknown in college play. He's listed at 232 lbs, and when not injured, is considerably faster than Sam. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm (the wheels in my inner-OC's head are spinning). His high school passing yardage wasn't off the charts, but his TD to INT ratio was exceptional.

Charles Wright -- he's sure to be scholarly with that name in Austin. Good high school stats. Wasn't pursued much by other big name programs. Still an unknown.

Ben Ballard -- walk-on from some small private school.

Skyler Bonneau -- walk-on who apparently also doubles as an RB.

(not sure if that's his mom, sister, or girlfriend, but she handily made the cut for this post)

I cant tell what she is either.

On a serious side note, I think Sam comes back... he loves the game & the Horns. I could be wrong.

Jackson and Card may be the 2 best in that bunch.

Not sure about leadership qualities of those 2 but that factor is very important. Jackson will have the best wheels when he is back to 100% and Card has a bazooka arm.

We will see....

JQJ is the one who fits the TH mold from his tOSU and UH days. He kind of reminds me of Cardale Jones with a worse arm. If we can get him to do just enough to limit mistakes and not get annihilated when he runs like Sam does, he could be the next great one here.

VY was the first "3K/1K" guy, and it's been done by Johnny Football, Lamar Jackson, and Jalen Hurts since then. JQJ can make it happen if we actually give him an OL.

Gotta be mom with those crow's feet. But solid all the same.
Hmmmmm.

A certain Rod Stewart lyric might be appropriate for the way some apparently see her:

"The morning sun when it's in your face really shows your age.
But that don't worry me none, in my eyes, you're everything."

I'm in DFW, so I had a lot of exposure to Jackson his Sr. year at Duncanville. The kid has incredible skills - magic when 100%.

Might, might be VY potential out of HS....

ok I am a little more impressed now knowing she is the big 5-0.

Wow!
And I really wasn't joking when I said I didn't know if it was his mom, sister, or girlfriend...
Give that kid a series or two in any blowout games we have next year, and give his mom tickets next to Sabre...

If Sam does come back, I think it likely that two of the top 3 guys on this list portal themselves.
As long as J. Jackson sticks around, I could live with that.

Not to cast any shade on the talents of Hudson, Charles, or the two walk-ons--we just don't know yet whether any of them will pan out.

But ... you can bet the farm that if one of them transfers to Tech, he'll rack up around 400-500 yards passing in games against us.

Worster Sam coming back is my hope. He deserves better than this year.
He needs a full DKR

I'm hopin like heck Sam does not come back.
Crap!
When he reads this he will be back.

I'm looking forward to see what someone else can do. Experience be damned.

Yeah, we will see.
Ques? How would have a no Sam UT team fared this year? Much, much, much worse. Soooo, somehow a lil elf drops down and waves a wand on the backups?

Maybe the coaches are too stupid to play the right one!
Perhaps the coaches played Sam because he is the beloved senior and not the QB with higher upside.

Well.....
Jackson was hurt all year.

I want the best man to win out, but as of now, we don’t know whether any of them would match or beat Sam next year.

Pretty sure Pomspoms was using sarcasm.
Actually I was serious and not using sarcasm. Let's see what the backups can do next year.
Oh I believe one of them will beat Sam for the starting spot if Sam comes back.
Well, considering Herman's love for Sam the backups probably won't even get a chance to play.

If Sam were to ask me I'd say-
You've been here 4 years and while the results haven't been what you wanted you've given it your all and should be proud. You'll get drafted and make a roster. Minimum NFL salary is $610k. Time to put what's best for you and your family first.

Sam is a 2 time Davey O’Brien Finalist and would start at 90% of D1 schools- easily ...I didn’t say 95% because I didn’t want to argue, but it is probably closer to 95%,, dangit I did it anyway.
That has nothing to do with Herman’s love- good grief did you skip this season? Sam was UT, kids a warrior - a leader, an award finalist, a record setter at Texas. There is absolutely going to be a drop off at QB next year.
You’ll get you your wish 2021, so will you then say that Herman loves Thompson but Card is better? Or maybe Jackson starts but Thompson’s better.
Just a hunch, but we spend zero time at practices, team meetings and in the film room- so I defer to the coaches.
