I saw a female with Waters last night on TV, she is a rep from Cali.
Former Mayor of Chicago, Harold Washington?

They are from Africa? Seems to me you should use that phrasing when you are a recent immigrant or perhaps 2nd or 3rd generation. But at some point you are just American and the African is long gone man.

A). Sorry about that, major, I scanned the thread and must have missed that.
B). I usually disagree with pharm, but this time I think he's right...

I considered Sharpton, wasn't sure if he was political science or social science, had the same thoughts about MLK...MLK is more political and Sharpton tends to be more Social Science, maybe it is the timing of the two.

Rex,

I used to dislike JWP, but I don't have a problem with him anymore. He is what he is. He's a self-serving politician who does nothing to help his district and whose sole qualification for office is that he's very outspoken in his hatred of white people. He serves no productive purpose and doesn't really even do anything to help or hurt anybody. He doesn't bring a bunch of public works projects or money back to his district. He doesn't do anything to lure business (and therefore jobs) into his district. He basically makes a living making noise and not much else.

He has been in office since the mid-'80s, and he has pretty much been the same way the entire time. His constituents know what he is, and they like it. In fact, the crazier he acts, the more popular he gets. Having a leader who expresses their racial hatred is clearly their top priority, and he does that very well. So don't blame JWP. He's just representing his constituents, and he's not doing anything to hurt you or anybody else.

Emmett Scott was about as interesting as a clerical sort could be. Very much in the Booker T Washington camp.
The Link

You can find his books about Washington and 'The Negro in World War I' on line, in their entirety.
