There was an update on Timmons today on Rivals. He says that he is happy with his commitment. He also says that he is considering aggy's invitation to meet their new coach. However Timmons said that he has not spoken to Texas' coach about it yet.

He chose UT because of the academics and he likes Bobby Kennedy.

2 guys left early leaving 83 on the roster...add in 13 seniors and we are looking at 15 open spots....add in 3-5 due to attrition that always seems to happen and Mack could get up to about 20 in total.

17 now, so I would add:
McFarland, Howell, and 1 top OOS blue chip recruit.

i am still holding out hope for Brent. i think we have a shot.
also, i have minimal hope for Richardson (RB) from fla.
4/5 more and close shop at 21/22 ships.
 
any ideas, based on spring workouts/game, on who might be moving on? i hate to see anyone leave the program but i know it happens (grades, playing time, etc.)...
 
Until the kid announces himself, Hornfans, rightfully so, will not allow speculation of that sort. (Unlike other rumor mills.)
 
Texas has lower attrition than the vast majority of programs, but honestly, it would be very surprising if we DIDN'T lose at least 5 guys between now and when players report in summer/fall 2009 to a combination of the following:

1) grades
2) behavior
3) transfer for playing time
4) medical retirement
5) possible decommitment (doesn't happen often, but may lose one)
6) early departure for NFL

Think about it. Over the next year and a half, we'd only have to have ONE guy lost to each of those to make the 2009 class number 21 recruits. What are the chances?
 
5 is a lot, possible but i dont think it will be that many. only once that i remember in the past 10 yrs has it been that much.
ill say 2-3 but i dont see more than that.
 
With Kinne transferring that opens up another spot. 16 spots open now and 17 verballed. Can easily see 3-4 more lost due to attrition for all the reasons listed above and this class looking more and more like 21-22.

With Okafor and Walters jumping on recently the wish list continues:
McFarland
Brent
Howell
Kennard

Also there are 3 open spots for this year. Mack could add a few honorary schollies to senior walk-ons that would open back up for the 09 class.
 
Well we can update this now. Howell is #18. Looking back at this thread we have picked up the guys at the top of the list each and every time....Allen, then Okafor, then Walters, now Howell.

New wish list:

It's not unreasonable to think we bag two of the three on the list above, and maybe one surprise OOS player, for a total of 21, and what would be a super class.
