Kill's time is no surprise. Look at his track performance in H.S. Whatever his weaknesses are, they are not going to surface in any timed race... whether 40 yds or 400 yds. He can run.
Sweed helped himself considerably with his performance.
The most surprising (disappointing) performance to me has not been mentioned on this thread: Billy Pittman's 40 yd dash. I didn't expect him to run a 4.4 but, wow.
This is just my opinion, but I don't think anything Jamaal does with respect to running a 40 will affect his draft projections. We may be discouraged if he chooses not to run, but I think that's largely just because of our own curiosity. We know he his capable of something phenomenal, and we'd like to see it.
I would suspect that scouts know all they need to about his speed, and their concerns will lie in other areas.
Seriously? You think Sweed didn't solidify his combine time because he ran .03-.05 slower? Really? I mean...really? We're not talking .13-.15 slower (which still isn't that significant), we're talking .03-.05 slower. If we're measuring in blinks of an eye, we're talking about the average eyelid being only 1/9-1/6 through its downward progression in that amount of time.
Torbush. There is not a signficant amount of difference between 4.46 and 4.51 and the scouts know it.
If I was Limas, I wouldn't have run at all. I'm really happy for Drew, I wish we would have kept him at Safety all four years he was here, with those combine numbers I'm thinking that he probably would have been a first round pick. Kill might be a good special teams player, but little else, his speed doesn't translate to the field IMO. Nate Jones will probably get drafted now, wow, I didnt' think he'd run that fast.
I think Lokey shot up on some boards. We know he wasn't invited to the NFL combine so this really was the 1st time many of these scouts got a good look at him. He has the motor like Robison had.
I certainly could do without hearing our fans boo our own team this season. It's fine to disagree with a play call (read: bubble screen on 3rd and 30), but it is something entirely different to boo the actually players on the field. All it does is add undue pressure to a players who are already nervous enough, especially the gaggle of young guys we are fielding this year.
