I would give my kingdom to see the coaching staff make a big schematic change to our D that would give ISU a headache to figure out. (Like switching to a 5-2). Could only be a little worse than whats going on now—might be a lot better.

As it is, with the mounting injuries and the lone punt we forced last game, I just dont think our offense can score every possession like they will need to.

As I see it, all the cyclones have to do is not committ turnovers and they will score every possession like Tech did all of its nonturnover possessions, save the lone punt.

And remember, Iowa State rarely turns it over and plays the best D. Its going to be ugly.

Making a big schematic change to the D after game 10? That's a great idea!!! I'm sure the players can learn a new D in one week.

For the players, having five down linemen wouldn't rock their world and Wheeler and Johnson have played linebacker in a 5-2 scheme before. Hager and Omenihue would get to rush the passer instead of dropping into coverage.

Maybe we don't have enough depth for three tackles? But it would give us a chance to stop the run.

Davis and Boyd would be on islands again, but they aren't exactly shutting anyone down as it is and with a better pass rush, would certainly benefit from QB hurries. We get little to know pass rush as it is.

Basically, our defense isn't making any team one dimensional, isn't getting pressure, and isn't keeping them out of the end zone. Sticking with a failed scheme doesn't make sense to me like it does 4th down above.

Weather forecast is calling for showers late...so, depending on HOW late, the run game had better be in place. And since Texas gets the ISU back-up in the first half, that makes it doubly critical to get things going early.

However...trends being what they are, Texas loses the flip and defers. As a result, they start from their usual 0-7 hole. Would be a lot easier if they would just let the scoreboard operator post the points and Texas takes the ball at the 25 with the clock showing 14:59.
