Pple in all 50 states petition BO to secede

I went there and it said I voted for Obama in Philadelphia.

There is a legal process to secession and it starts with the petition to seperate. Once that document has been legalized and rejected it could be taken through the court system and under the 10th Amendment a state could declare it's independence and eventually the Supreme Court would rule whether it was legal or not.

Just an uneducated Tea Party member here.

We do not have the right to secede. We have the right to break up into 5 separate states. Not going to happen either.

This heavily popularized bit of Texas folklore finds no corroboration where it counts: No such provision is found in the current Texas Constitution[1] (adopted in 1876) or the terms of annexation.[2] However, it does state (in Article 1, Section 1) that "Texas is a free and independent State, subject only to the Constitution of the United States..." (note that it does not state "...subject to the President of the United States..." or "...subject to the Congress of the United States..." or "...subject to the collective will of one or more of the other States...")

Neither the Texas Constitution, nor the Constitution of the united States, explicitly or implicitly disallows the secession of Texas (or any other "free and independent State") from the United States. Joining the "Union" was ever and always voluntary, rendering voluntary withdrawal an equally lawful and viable option (regardless of what any self-appointed academic, media, or government "experts"—including Abraham Lincoln himself—may have ever said).

Both the original (1836) and the current (1876) Texas Constitutions also state that "All political power is inherent in the people ... they have at all times the inalienable right to alter their government in such manner as they might think proper."

Likewise, each of the united States is "united" with the others explicitly on the principle that "governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed" and "whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [i.e., protecting life, liberty, and property], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government" and "when a long train of abuses and usurpations...evinces a design to reduce them under absolute despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such government, and to provide new guards for their future security." [3]

You can all go to hell!
I'm going up to Washington......

Now people in 47 states have sent petitions to BO to secede.Only Maine Vermont and Washington have not thus far had people submit petitions.

This is a funny and meaningless exercise. I hope most of the signatories used dummy emails
something General Allen should have done as well.

25+K loons in a state aren't a mandate for secession. There are probably 25+K racists in any state who really think slavery should be reinsituted. It don't mean ****. Plenty of other Obama haters will give them a big "**** you!"

I'm a fifth generation Texan whose family fought at San Jacinto and died at the Alamo, and I'm getting real tired of these phoney "patriotic" Texans spewing such crap and embarassing this state with their treason.

since San Jac was fought after the Alamo I am guessing there was more than one family member that fought?

What is your relative's name that died at the Alamo? I would look him up and pay tribute when I am there next month. It was an amazing decision to stay and fight.

6721,

My Alamo ancestor is William Parks, who was born in North Carolina in 1805 and came to Texas as a member of Stephen F Austin's colony. He became a Texan volunteer and fought with Bowie, Fannin, Deaf Smith and Juan Segiun against General Cos at the siege and victory at San Antonio de Bexar in Dec 1835. Our research shows he remained at the Alamo as a defender until the battle, where of course he died.

He is a direct ancestor on my father's side. His name is on a plaque at the Alamo, and I always stop at it and say a prayer of thanks for him and the other heroes whenever I go there.

You and I disagree on today's politics, but I appreciate your tribute.

6721,

My San Jac ancestor on my mother's side is Thomas Buford from So Car. He was in the Texas cavalry, survived the battle but died in 1839 in East Texas.

I can't even imagine what it took to stay there knowing what was coming. He is a true Texan
I bet he would have signed the petition.

They were all unbelievably courageous people.

Can't say what Wm P might have done re that petition, but he did give his life for Texas.

Thomas Buford did follow Sam Houston into battle at San Jac, and we do know that Houston favored annexation and later refused to agree to secession to join the Confederacy, so if TB had lived he might have agreed w/ Houston. We'll never know.

my ancestor at the alamo, Max von Huisache, uttered his last words there> "Mr, Rose, would you like some company?"

Years later as he lay dying he passed on the family wisdom, saying "Never go into combat with a leader who closes his letters with 'Victory or Death.'"

I oppose secession because Texas is still largely uncivilized and run by redneck pandering psychopaths. Federal coercion is the only reason we even try to educate minorities and lynching is against the law.

Someone sent me this email, thought you readers may enjoy (or not)

Dear Red States:

We're ticked off at your Neanderthal attitudes and politics and we've decided we're leaving.

We in New York intend to form our own country and we're taking the other Blue States with us.

In case you aren't aware that includes California, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, Illinois and the rest of the Northeast.

We believe this split will be beneficial to the nation and especially to the people of the new country of The Enlightened States of America (E.S.A).

To sum up briefly:
You get Texas, Oklahoma and all the slave states.

We get stem cell research and the best beaches.

We get Andrew Cuomo and Elizabeth Warren. You get Bobby Jindal and Todd Akin.

We get the Statue of Liberty. You get Opryland.

We get Intel and Microsoft. You get WorldCom.

We get Harvard. You get Ol' Miss.

We get 85 percent of America's venture capital and entrepreneurs.

You get Alabama.

We get two-thirds of the tax revenue. You get to make the red states pay their fair share.

Since our aggregate divorce rate is 22 percent lower than the Christian Coalition's, we get a bunch of happy families. You get a bunch of single moms.

With the Blue States in hand we will have firm control of 80% of the country's fresh water, more than 90% of the pineapple and lettuce, 92% of the nation's fresh fruit, 95% of America's quality wines (you can serve French wines at state dinners) 90% of all cheese, 90 percent of the high tech industry, most of the US low sulfur coal, all living redwoods, sequoias and condors, all the Ivy and Seven Sister schools plus Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Cal Tech and MIT.

With the Red States you will have to cope with 88% of all obese Americans and their projected health care costs, 92% of all US mosquitoes, nearly 100% of the tornadoes, 90% of the hurricanes, 99% of all Southern Baptists, virtually 100% of all televangelists, Rush Limbaugh, Bob Jones University, Clemson and the University of Georgia.

We get Hollywood and Yosemite, thank you.

38% of those in the Red states believe Jonah was actually swallowed by a whale, 62% believe life is sacred unless we're discussing the death penalty or gun laws, 44% say that evolution is only a theory, 53% that Saddam was involved in 9/11 and 61% of you crazy ******** believe you are people with higher morals then we lefties.

We're taking the good weed too. You can have that crap they grow in Mexico.

Sincerely,

Citizen of the Enlightened States of America

I love the United States of America and will do all I can to preserve, protect and defend her from all enemies foreign and domestic. I'm willing to negotiate on most things, but honest to God I'd rather live in Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas or New Mexico or even North Dakota as part of the United States rather than in an Independent Republic of Texas.

Mich, I'm not sure how old you are, but I've never seen division like this in this country in my lifetime and knowing our country's history fairly well, not since the 1800's. Maybe in the 30's and 40's, but WWII bailed us out. I've seen a lot of complaining one way or another, but seeing 50 states with petitions is not something to make fun. If you still see it as whining then you have a real problem with comprehension.

Maryland Horn: during the '68 period, there were riots at both conventions. The dem convention got all the attention because it was a lot of white college students who were smart enough to get beat up by the Chicago cops on television ("the whole world is watching").

What the world did not pay much attention to and what is virtually forgotten now is the riots at the Republican convention in Miami. People actually got killed there but they were black and nobody cared. Also, the black people did not carry out their performance in front of the tv cameras, which was very poor tactics on their part.

The current situation is about a bunch of whiners who are so self righteous they think they can ignore election results and indulge in fantasy.

Even in states where Romney had nice majorities there were still large percentages of people who voted for the rightwing bedwetters' latest incarnation of The Great Satan.

Nobody is seceding. Not a single state. Even the retards in Mississippi and South Carolina wont. Just the usual bed wetting by a pack of lunatic whiners.

We get 90% of the food production in the US and you get to pay what we want. So not only will you be cold, but hungry too. But hey, you have Hollywood so you have that going for ya.
