I hope we did enough to prevent our visit from being over shadowed with todays visit.

i'll ask again if anyone knows (same as my previous question on this thread) - why was it only an in school visit and not an in home? or was there also an in home with mack this week?

Max Olson of ESPN -- “According to some Mizzou fans on Twitter, DGB’s visit hasn’t gone as planned. They say he got carded, couldn’t get into Harpo’s last night.”

I hope he is not going to make a decision based on whether or not he got carded going into a club.

Mack did not make an in-home. He visited at the school.
But he did send an associate. It went like this:

"Hi, Dorial! I just wanted to stop by, since I was in the area, and say hello. I hope we'll be seeing a lot of you at practice. Ooops, sorry, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Coach Goestenkors, Women's Basketball, The University of Texas. I just got through offering your girlfriend a scholarship to play basketball for the Lady Longhorns, and she said you'd want to know. So... now you do! Nice to meet you, I gotta run, the private jet's waiting to take me back to Austin. See you soon, I hope!"

You know we did this to VY and he was sold. I'm worried this could sway him that way if he wasn't already. The good news is we knew when VY was leaving the Frank Irwin that he was a Horn because he gave a hook'em horns. DGB just had a big smile as he was leaving. Not sure that is a sign as I'm coming to Mizz or a smile that says these people think I'm coming here.

Agreed. DGB has been playing it very cool as far as giving any sort of hint as to where he's going. If it's Texas, then great. But if not, that's OK. I would want him to the good guys, but only if he does it because he wants to.

wow, 6' 6"? Quality of QB matters, but for a deep ball for example, he's gonna have 4 inches+ on every DB he plays against. He can go up and get the football. And does he realize true freshmen do start on our team at WR, just look at Ship's stats, with a true Freshman at QB.

I don't know much about recruiting, but I think Mack/Harsin could promise a guy this good a starting position, and I think the running game strength works in our favor, when we run play-action he's gonna be open.

But then again, somebody this good thinks he will need 10+ passes a game, every game, from game one. It's not gonna happen like that. And not just here. To get 10+ thrown at him every game, he probably needs to go somewhere else.- a team that consistently throws the ball 40+ times a game would give him a chance to get 10. I guess Harsin could tell him he could get 10 of our 20 passes? Is DGB gonna bite on that?

I don't see MIzzou fitting that either. They run the ball a lot more than people think. Of course, they could easily change their O to fit him.

orangecat1,

I actually think our situation at QB is better than OU and Ark if he will look at the big picture. I know Viper and a few other disagree with this. But if he is going to a school just for his freshman year, then yes those two will be better for him. Our coaches job is to point out after his freshman year that our QB situation will be better for him vs those two teams. Those two teams will be starting over with a new QB DGB's Soph year. Also our coaches will sell that Ash was a true Freshman and he will only get better and having him as a WR on our team will instantly make him better.

Now our coaches selling point vs Mizz needs to be does he want a chance to play for a national championship or not. Although no team can guarantee it, we got a heck of a better argument than Mizz. Also I'm guessing our coaches will do their usual sell of how our city has much better weather vs the other three schools.

Mack makes the recruits feel like they are not just coming here to play football and be a part of a team, but he is the best at making the player and his family know he is enterin a family atmosphere and will be cared for under his watch.

With taking the chance of getting my expectations up which could end up being more disappointed, I really feel good about our chances of landing DGB. We just got to get by being futher away from his hometown than the other schools.

horn4jc-
So if he doesn't come here, who exactly would you consider to be the good guys left in the group? I don't think I could name one...

I35,

Your argument might hold true for the pig people, but little bobby can show a continuous line of QB development that Texas just cannot beat on an equal basis. ou trots them out and they win multiple conference championships; are in the MNC hunt almost every year; and are in the Heisman talk regularly. Texas' counter under Mack is Major (total dedication to Texas), Vince and Colt. (Simms looked good and had superior WR's, but could not turn the deal in the games he needed to perform in.) Of that group a superior level WR would only be interested in Colt, but Texas isn't running that offense any longer. (Vince and Major were more running QB's.)

If we knew ou was a definite no - I would feel a lot better about Texas' chances.
