Post game quote from Pat Murphy

Murphy is an embarrassment to college baseball. It's too bad that ASU is stuck with a ******** like that.

Augie, who has played other teams in the PAC 10 since he's been at Texas (Stanford, Arizona and USC come to mind), won't schedule Murphy in the regular season and it isn't because Murphy coaches a team Augie's afraid of. I'll let you figure out why since I'd be violating the rules here if I revealed why.

I have zero respect for a guy who runs a program like Murphy runs his.

Murphy is a dick. I had a buddy that played for him and my buddy performed at a very high level for him. My buddy said that him and Murphy hated each other and did not even speak to one another. Murphy is knowing for treating his players bad and hanging them out to dry.

Pericles is from Arizona,he should know.

Another quote from Murphy in the post-game PC when asked about Cameron's HR with a 3-1 count. "We had the guy struck out, but that is part of the game." ( I reviewed the tape and only 1 pitch was questionable.)

In the first game with UNC/ASU and the NC pitcher was having success, when interviewed on the sideline Murphy stated "He (NC Pitcher) is tough when he is getting the calls 3-4 inches off the plate"

For those in attendance, did the teams/coaches shake hands afterward, especially Augie/Murphy? It amazes me the number of people on this thread who want to make excuses for Murphy. You are bonafide members of "Mr Rogers Neighborhood"

Everyone was gracious on the field after the game....Coaches and players all shook hands.
ASU was stung....literally stung.

He probably did think he had the better team. Huck had ratings that backed that up.

He was near the end of a PC that lasted about five minutes too long and was trying to talk about what kind of season his team had.

I think people worry way too much into what people say about games and not enough into what people do in the games. But that's just me.

Let it be. Imagine what you would have said on record about 1 second after Crabtree's catch. That's probably how he felt.

If you have the Yahoo Sports audio subscription I imagine you can get it, since they had both postgames on the UT audio.

Might also be on CBS College Sports, although I have not looked.

I imagine Murphy and his team were devastated. Id rather not call him a dick over those words after a stunning loss. He was supporting his team, not trashing the Horns.

However, I did not like his choice of words when he said he "would miss some of the players" leaving the team after this season. As a coach, you should miss all of them, or at least say that publicly.

I didn't agree with Augie when his team didn't shake hands after the CSF game. I also don't agree with Murhpy's comments in this situation.

As a coach, I beleive that in a post game press conf. you should only be complimentary towards the other team. If you can't be positve about your own team without taking a shot at the opposing team then you should just keep your mouth shut.

Everyone faces huge dissapointments at sometime in your playing/coaching career. You have to handle them with class.

Then again that's just me. I would feel the same way if the roles were reversed and Augie had made a similar comment.

All that being said, I thought Murphy was being a crybaby way before the post game presser. He was continuoulsy crying about calls during the game. If you go back and watch the game, you will see the cameras catch him a few times whining about balls/strikes.

OU sucks ATM Blows:
Why do you say Augie and the team didn't shake hands after CSUF in 04 ?
We shook hands with the Titans....then we went into the locker room and didn't come out again....
You can have your own opinions, but please base them on facts....not what you think you read somewhere.

Sua,

RELAX. I made a mistake when I typed that post. I think most people on here know what I meant. Feel free to edit my post if it makes you that hot and bothered. LOL. wow....

I am not hot and bothered. I just don't get why you think it was necessary to compare Augie's situation with Pat Murphy's....especailly when you are wrong ( which perpetuates this long running myth about what really occurred in Omaha in 04...it was a mixup from the NCAA people....Augie wasn't being a bad sport.... he is actually quite gracious and classy....even in defeat )

Please come back and explain what you mean that you think we all "know what you mean." ......That we didn't come back out for the 2nd place trophy?.....

I was listening to the post game interviews on 1300 after the game. From his voice, he sounded crushed. Up until that remark he was very complimentary of Texas. I think he was just trying to tell his team he still thought they were the best, which any coach would do.

He may be a dick for all I know but I don't know him. So this time, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

The media blew "trophy gate" so far out of proportion that even some Texas fans turned on Augie for it. He would never have intentionally disrespected Cal State Fullerton. He built that program with his own two hands, for crying out loud. He mentored George Horton for 7 seasons before he left for Texas and Horton took over Fullerton's program.

I'm not going to rehash the details because any true Texas baseball fan should know them. But it's ridiculous that this crap continues to be brought up every single year.

I think that the info by people from Arizona and know a bit more about the man and his seeming pattern for dkckhead stuff like this speaks volumes. It seems this was not a one time thing for him and that it is a constant way of behavior. So no, no lightening up on him, at all.

ousucks, no, you should correct and edit your post if you either purposely or ignorantly made some mistakes of fact in the post. Why should somebody else, who made fact known over what you typed, have to do it? That is the only lol or wow about it.

For me it wasn't just his post game comments. I understand the emotion and disappointment of the that situation. It was the way he was whining all week during games, before and after about bad calls being onesided and how it was inevitable that they would beat UNC and beat us twice to play in the finals. I understand having confidence and wanting to show that to your team. However, there are ways of saying those things without arrogance. He failed in the regard.

He just wants a do-over, a third game, cause his team didn't win. Sorry dude you lost and your all-world pitcher lost TWICE - ASU is out... get over it.

Torre,

You remember one of our players from a few years back who was from out west? One that was heavily recruited by Murphy?

You should HEAR what he and his parents have to say about Murphy. "********" would be a mild term based on what they have to say about him . . .

Damn, it's going to be like past Omaha CWS weather here tomorrow evening. Last week here was nice and cool. I thought I'd died and gone to weather heaven, but alas, everything approaches the mean.

Beat the hell outta LSU.
