Player injured in Tenn/ORU game

I've been thinking about the ORU player (Brazilian?) that was injured on the opening play of the Tennessee-Oral Roberts game. She slipped on one of the Tennessee cheerleader signs that the cheerleaders had carelessly left on the floor just behind the baseline.

Aside from the fact that the ESPN announcers steadfastly ignored the fact that she slipped on a sign, I think that Tennessee should have been assessed a technical foul because it was carelessness by the cheerleaders.

The poor girl had to be carried off the floor. I don't know if she ever came back into the game, but the injury probably would not have happened had her foot landed on the wooden floor instead of a slick plastic sign.

This just makes me mad.

Noticed that too...I kept waiting for them to say something about it, but nothing. I'm sure Tennessee will hear about it later.

It looked like her injury was her left knee, and she used that leg to plant, trying to stop. Very similar to Adam Morrison's ruptured ACL earlier this season.

She was their leading scorer this season and never even got on the offensive end of the court tonight after going for the loose ball at tip off. She did not play the rest of the game and I believe was on crutches.

Very careless of the Vols cheerleaders to leave SEVERAL signs inches from the baseline.

Way back in 96 when Georgia played and lost to Tennessee in the National Title game, the Tennesse mascot destroyed a stuffed Bulldog under the basket. Little plastic stuffing went everywhere under the Georgia basket right before the game was about to begin. They swept it up but the very first play of the game, with GA's guard on a run down the court... you guessed it. She slipped and fell. It was maddening...and the announcer never commented on the mascot situation even after showing it on camera before the game. I am still mad thinking about it this many years later.

I thought she had slipped on the sign as well, but when I was watching it again on tape, it almost looked as though she tried to stop and ended up skidding on the toe of her shoe (as if she had stubbed her toe into the floor first instead of her flat foot). Hope that makes sense. Regardless, it always annoys me that they allow camera people to sit so close to the court. I'm really surprised more people aren't injured running into people and things too near to the out of bounds line.

she slipped on two signs and to me it looked like that is what caused the hurt knee. Those tenn cheerleaders knew they had done wrong too, trying to look all innocent while she was on the floor. They were then trying to be sneaky by putting the signs behind them while the girl was down crying. Then those priece of **** espn announcers never once said a damn thing about the signs. What a ******* joke, makes me hate tenn even more.

The announcers did discuss the sign on the floor and did show the replay a couple of times of the player slipping on. Did everyone miss that or did I dream it?

The tenor of the previous posts on this subject seems to be that the signs
were, MAYBE, left on the court apron with some intent. If my guess is correct, how could the Tennessee cheer squad expect that any inconvenience would be against an ORU player? CARELESS, certainly; INTENTIONAL, not likely.

I assume that there is some sort of NCAA monitoring of the cheerleaders and I hope that this would be addressed with the university. I agree that there was no intent, but it does need to be addressed.
