Philly Mayor:Media ignores black on black killing

I don't get it. It's like my neighbor is beating his wife and people are saying "what can we do to keep this man from beating his wife?" Unfortunately, the only thing "we" can do is to keep him in prison so he can't beat his wife.

I guess I"m really not understanding a) what it is that can be done other than black people saying "we should really stop killing each other."

I'm already doing what I can do to sop the killing by not killing other people.

Buckhorn,

I struggled with that point, and you may very well be correct my solution would be simply localizing the war. I still wonder if there is a middle ground that would essentially cause prices to plummet, accepting the increased availability, while still being able to keep the most dangerous substances (or at least just heroin) banned.

Basically, it would analogous to the marijuana market now, which doesn't have the same level of violence or territory wars as cocaine and heroine.

For the record:

Satchel is not generally the best advocate for his own positions (perhaps because he is more interested in pushing buttons around here, something for which he demonstrates a profound gift -- I'm not sure), but he did at least attempt to address the question of media coverage of and black responses to black on black violence (granted, his list of links was swelled by the inclusion of non-accessible sites at a rate of nearly 50%). More than his opposition has contributed. I have heard this pish posh pish about the attention the Marrtin case is getting and the supposed lack of care for black on black murder, and it has mostly been brought up by the right, though they seldom, if ever, actually do so in order to discuss the issue. It is largely a deflection and therefore, as I have suggested elsewhere, political chicanery.
