Phil Steele's top 40

I just noticed he put Penn State at 10. wtf? Penn State has turned into a pretty good bet to go 8-4 or 9-3 almost every year; I don't think anomalies like 2005 are going to happen very often as long as JoePa is still around.

Actually, I think the Big T(elev)en is going to blow this year, outside of Ohio State, and I don't think they'll beat USC. Michigan is going to find out what it was like to be Nebraska in 2004, I think. They could very well lose their first game (Utah).

RE Mich State.... that coach they have is no joke. with a full year under his belt and a spring, i would look for them to really make some noise this year. at the very least, he has instilled a no quit attitude in them.

In the spring game Chiles showed tremendous improvement in his passing over last year. You could tell who he was throwing the incompletions to this spring. Colt is a coaches' kid and will improve marginally year by year, especially as he beefs up (noticeably again this year).

He has us pegged about where we belong before the season starts.

But where are the Aggies on that list? They should break the top thirty.

In Mike Sherman they have a decent head coach and in Nolan Cromwell they have an offensive coordinator who knows how to use talent.

Drag -TT has more starters back on O than D and they didn't suck. They also picked up (2) 4 star JCs at DE. I am like another poster on here the other day. TT's problems this year will come from a lot is going to be expected out of them. They will get to feel the pressure for a change.

I like Steele better than the other mags..bunch of cool **** in his mag...I dont care whether his "predictions" are right per se..

Things go in cycles.

Michigan.
Miami.
Nebraska.

Been a while any top 25, no less a top 40 list, hasn't included at least one of those.
