Petty lip-synched the halftime show

Poor Jordin Sparks singing the National Anthem though...she had to lip-sync, which is apparently customary for this game I've heard.

Can we please get someone not who is not eligible for Medicare for next year's show? That was such a ******* yawner. What's the deal with the string of geriatric performers for the SB halftime show? Was one stupid, nasty titty that much of a scar for the American people that they have to Disney-up the halftime show from now on?

I love the Stones, but their SB performance was ******* awful. I thought Jagger was going to die on stage.

They should have brought in Led Zeppelin for halftime. It couldn't have been more obvious, really. That's probably why the NFL tanked it.

Jim Rome went on a 30 minute rant Monday about this. He said all the people were casted as "extras". They had to wait for 2 hours outside the stadium and everything. Not even sure if they got paid, but they didn't get to see any game. Lame if you ask me. I don't know if Petty was lip syncing, but as far as I could tell his guitar wasn't plugged in.

Petty has trouble remembering the words to the songs these days, so they told him to just chew on the microphone cover and most people wouldn't even notice that he wasn't really singing.

I don't doubt a lot of performers at the Super Bowl lip synch. It's too damn big of a stage to risk a bad night with your voice or some sort of malfunction on stage. Although, as we learned from Ashlee Simpson, even a lip synched performance can go wrong.

If they weren't playing live, then why did they bother with the full on stage gear? They could put a couple of speakers up there, a few fakey mic's & leave it @ that.

They had the full rig with microphones in front of the speaker stacks, effects, etc.

I say real deal.

& While this gig only took 2 days of "practice" for the "fans", the SB gig I did was about 10 sessions, 3 - 4 hours each. We were more than a musical act, it was a mini stage show (Indiana Jones & Temple of Doom theme).
