Perry: Time to Hand our Problems to God and Jesus

I'm asking Jesus and God and Buddha, my dog, my lucky charms- everyone basically, to please not let Perry do anything else ever to my favorite state or country.

It's amazing that guys like this ---- guys who want to wait around for Jesus to solve our problems ---- are being put forward as leading candidates by some.

Based on an understanding of how Christians look at God working through their lives. Based on having heard this same statement made thousands of times in sermon after sermon and knowing exactly what the preacher and/or scripture was referencing.

Scripture is pretty clear that God will provide if we seek the kingdom first, and yet at the same time it also tells us that we have a responsibility to work and provide for our families. The idea of divine providence has never been about inactivity and the expectation that God will serve as my personal valet - except of course when people want to demagogue and scare people.

I would add that Perry's biggest issue to me is thinking that God has "fixing the U.S. economy" on his to-do list. Flipping through the channels would indicate to me that we probably have bigger issues to deal with in His mind.

perry is the al gore of the republican party. he will say anything to win. he is just trying to hit on an electorate base. it isnt surprising that he and al are friends.

I read the Bible and go to church a lot and frankly I'm having hard time seeing the spiritual aspects to a stand on taxation or environmental regulation. There's nothing wrong though, with fasting, prayer, asking God's forgiveness and intervention to see his will done on earth. As I read the Bible the big issues are charity towards the poor, justice, mercy and examining your own sin. I'd love to see more children raised in two parent families and more love, tolerance, self-discipline, honoring of parents verbal and property honesty.

Perry is pandering to evangelicals to help his nomination chances. That seems pretty obvious.

In the same way, Obama ignores and even subverts the law of the land to pander to Gays, Lesbians, and Mexican-Americans.

Which is worse?

Which is worse?

I just imagined going into a voting booth with the choice being Rick Perry and Barak Obama for POTUS. I'm sick at my stomach.

I'm with you on the hair, but I think Bush was a much better governor and has intellectual capabilities vastly superior to those of our current governor. I'll bet he's even better at Scrabble.

Didn't he suggest that we pray for rain, as well?

I laughed.

Pandering, certainly.

Maybe we should call the witch doctors and rain dancers up while we're asking Jesus and his daddy to lead the way on mundane, profane issues like taxation.

Why not, seems to work for millions of people

why do you hate Jesus?

Our current group of ilk in Washington aren't doing a thing to solve our economic woes. I'm willing to give Jesus a shot at it.

Actually, if our fiscal policy matched what was given in the Bible, then we wouldn't have this current mess on our hands and we'd better off socially as well. Hmmm, neither side seems to be able to grasp the whole concept. Sad.

Should we also take our slavery policy from the bible? How would that work for us, socially I mean.

what is your point? Slavery isnt promoted in the bible. it is historically referenced.

Slavery isnt promoted in the bible. it is historically referenced.

Jesus? Really?

How about not marrying outside your race? What about stoning adulterers?

Just "historical references"?

God, one third of the trinity, says we need to cut marginal tax rates, get rid of the capital gains tax, outlaw adultery and abortion, stone the gays at their marriage celebrations, increase the defense budget, slash the rest of it until it is in balance, suck up to the ruling party in Israel in every respect (I suspect this is favoritism because his kid, one of the other members of the trinity that is really just one god, is Jewish), execute more people, shut down the marijuana clinics, require picture IDs when voting, and build the TransTexas Corridor.

Jesus also says that corporations should be allowed to donate as much money as they want to political campaigns because the First Amendment says corporations are just folks, too.

No word thus far as to what the Holy Ghost thinks of all of this.

And nowhere is a Christian commanded not to marry outside his race.

You mean since the Civil Rights Act was passed, right?
