Perry For POTUS

Good lord no. if by some bad dream Perry decided to run and by some miracle won the republican nomination and I had a choice between Perry or Obama, I might need to request an international post or take early retirement somewhere in southern troical waters.

Well, if he'll resign as governor first, I'd be happy to contribute to the Perry for President campaign and even line up a fund raiser for him here in Flower Mound.

i think he will remind too many people of GWBush - not just being a former Texas governor, but even his mannerisms. I saw his DailyShow interview and every answer to a question had the same sort of casual vagueness that Bush was masterful at. Kind of a "you'll have to trust me, i get it" without ever offering specifics. I swear, even his posture and body language seemed similar to me.

He came off very Bushesque (and not the good parts of Bush, but the very worst parts of Bush) I don't think America in general, is ready to revisit that.

regardless, in Perry's political career he has never had to really earn and work for votes. In Texas, his resume only needed to include: i am not a Democrat.

I would be very worried about how he would deal with a less forgiving electorate nationally.

Not sure why people would not want him....BHO is just like Bush except way more expensive. Going back to Bush would be a spending cut.

Apparently not. Most of the spending by an administration, especially early on, consists of obligations that are passed on from previous administrations.

I suggest you do some googling so as to determine that part that was added by Obama and what part was incurred before his coming to office.

Look Perry would be light years better than Obama, but we can do so much better.

The Republican field, as it stands right now: Pawlenty, Daniels, Newt, Paul, maybe Romney, is DOA. None of them can beat Obama.

I'm not a big Perry fan, but he'd give Obama hell. He was Tea Party when Tea Party wasn't cool. He's tough on illegal immigration. He hates Obamacare. I'd vote for him.

Perry at least "gets it" with regard to government, that smaller is better. That in and of itself would make him light years better than Obama. Obama thinks government is the answer to our country's problems and that fact cause the problems we are facing to just get worse and worse. As it is in Washington, when we have a problem smoldering we sprinkle it with gasoline. Then we hear about how they really got something done as the problem eventually becomes a disaster.

Oh the irony if the man who gave a subtle nod to Texas secession and a not so subtle "I can do it better than the Federal govt. could dream about" ever had the idea of running for POTUS.

And, if you think Perry is seriously a more qualified POTUS than Obama or GWB, I think that is something that should be labeled on your drivers license or similar..like- Johnny is 6', Caucasian, and thinks Perry would be a better POTUS than Obama. Just to let people know what they're dealing with..

Perry as a GOP candidate would be a disaster. There is no way that is a good idea. Anyone who thinks so doesn't know how to think.

I think Daniels probably has the best chance of beating Obama of everyone currently in the GOP field, or possible.

Perry is way worse than Bush....

Bush did spend, and I am not going to say he is a spending cut compared to Obama, but can say nearly everyone else is a spending cut compared to W/Obama.

1 trillion to lose 550,000 jobs is not a good deal... Even if these guys numbers are way wrong and the stimulus didn't lose us any jobs... 1 trillion to have a net zero in job creation is still a clustermuck.

Perry does not deserve the office he currently has, and is doing his best to destory higher education in his backyard (even including his alma mater). And people want him to be President? Huhwhat?

WTF?? Did I warp into Bizarro World? I find myself agreeing with some of what Clean, THEU, and general 35 wrote!

Perry is a doosh; I just can't see the rest of the country supporting another Texas Republican so soon after Dubya, especially after his secession talk which got us a bunch of "**** you, Texas."

>> Local (Aus) news just saying that Mitt is in town for a private fundraiser. Wonder if he'll do as good as BO did last week (I recall he got abt $1.5 mill).

Mitt has the money behind him currently.

Of course with Obama you get what you pay for.

On the plus side- if he left Texas he would stop ruining my state and university.. and he could start ruining my country.

So, it's sort of a lose-win-lose situation.

I just wanted to point this out since Sancuary Citys was one of his emergency items. This cited by Texas Tribune.

"Perry said on Friday that the Arizona law “would not be the right direction for Texas” because “some aspects of the law turn law enforcement officers into immigration officials by requiring them to determine immigration status during any lawful contact with a suspected alien, taking them away from their existing law enforcement duties, which are critical to keeping citizens safe.”

And if you watch the video in the link Perry basicaly is saying you can pass all the immigration law you want but it wont help until you stop the revolving door. On a side note, I think the Feds need to step up and do a better job and improve immigration policies/laws or whatever.

How people think he's going to be a good choice boggles my mind!
