Perry: As a Christian, I Stand with Israel

The creation of Israel was largely allowed by the British decision to let thousands of Jews immigrate to Israel.

How many Muslims live in Europe and the United States? If you are one of these, claiming the Jews have no place in the Middle East is hypocrisy.

And yes, I repeat that Israel did not throw the Palestinians out of Israel. They fled because of the war started by the Arabs to destroy Israel. If there had been no war, there would have been no displacement. And once there was a truce called, the war still didn't end. The Arabs made it clear they still wanted to destroy Israel. So what was Israel supposed to do? Invite all these people who want the Jews dead back into Israel?

borna makes a good point about zionism being a secular movement. I was allout for israel as long as labor was in charge but Likud has played the religious fanatics ably and it is the settlements by the religious that are causing a lot of the expansionist problems. Much of the most devout non jewish support for the right wing greater israel movement over there comes from the religious fundamentalists here. I don't like them much here or there.

Zionism met a need but I wish they had picked ARizona as their holy land instead of an area full of a pre industrial people devoted to a primitive interpretation of islam.

If a bunch of Native Americans got together and decided to form a homeland in Oklahoma, and they had enough people there to form a state over part of Oklahoma, I think the world would take sympathy on them. Now imagine the United States went to war to prevent the Native American state, most of the white Americans fled to white areas to avoid the warfare, and the Native Americans won and didn't let the white Americans return. A bunch of white Oklahomans would be pissed, but the Native Americans would have good reason to hold steady, especially if the state of war continued endlessly.

Of course, the Jews were in a much more desperate situation 70 years ago. Losing 1/3 of your world population to genocide is sorta bad.
