Perfectly Cast Movie Roles

My first choice, by far: Shelley Duvall as Olive Oyl in Robert Altman's "Popeye."

Also, Mickey Rourke as "The Wrestler."

Christoph Waltz in "Inglourious Basterds."

Judy Garland as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz."

Clark Gable, Vivien Leigh, Olivia de Havilland, Lesley Howard, Hattie McDaniel and Butterfly McQueen in "Gone With The Wind."

Woody Allen in all his semi-autobiographical movies dealing with various incarnations of Allen Stewart Konigsberg of New York City.

And, IMHO, to perhaps a slightly lesser degree:

Dustin Hoffman as "Tootsie."

Micheal J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd in "Back to the Future."

Javier Bardem in "No Country For Old Men."

Diane Keaton in "Annie Hall."

Paul Newman and Patricia Neal in "Hud."

Jeff Bridges as "The Dude."

Gregory Peck in "To Kill a Mockingbird."

Gene Hackman in "Hoosiers."

Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson in "Easy Rider."

All fine performances, for sure, aided and abetted greatly by perfect casting.

Hard for me to picture other actors performing those roles as well.

What are your thoughts?

George C. Scott- "Patton"

Richard Burton- "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf"

Al Pacino- "Scent of a Woman"

Adolph Ceasar- "A Soldier's Story"

Excellent, but I still would like to have seen Rod Steiger in that role.

Douglas Rain as the voice of HAL 9000 - "2001"

A two-fer for Alan Rickman:

Severus Snape - the "Harry Potter" series
&
Alexander Dane/Dr. Lazarus - "Galaxy Quest"

"Could you possibly try NOT to hit EVERY SINGLE ONE?"

Karloff as Frankenstein

Lugosi as Dracula

James Dean as Jett Rink in "Giant"

Bogart as Charlie Allnut and Hepburn as Rose Sayer in "The African Queen"

Charlton Heston as Judah Ben-Hur

Warren Beatty as Clyde Barrow in "Bonnie and Clyde"

Belushi as Bluto Blutarsky in "Animal House"

Very good suggestions from everyone.

One pretty recent film that struck me as a perfect role for an actor is George Clooney in "Up in the Air". I'm sure some other actors could have pulled it off, but I don't know if it would have been on par with his performance, which I consider the best of his career.

How no one has mentioned Robert Shaw as Quint in Jaws is beyond my comprehension. To me that was the end-all of perfect casting.

Daniel Day Lewis as Bill the Butcher
Gene Hackman as Lex Luther

Malcolm Mcdowell as Little Alex in "A Clockwork Orange"

Brando as Stanley Kowalski in "A Streetcar Named Desire"

Tony Perkins as Norman Bates in "Psycho"

De Niro as Jake LaMotta in "Raging Bull"

De Niro as Travis Bickle in "Taxi Driver"

Bogart in Casablanca. Can you picture that movie if Reagan had accepted the role?

BTW, I hated Hackman as Lex Luthor in the Superman movies - too over-the -top. Much preferred Kevin Spacey's portrayal in Superman Returns
