Paul Finebaum on Texas 2023

Memo to Team:
1. Pay no attention to the media talking heads about how your team is loaded and should be a playoff contender. They love to hype you up and set you up for a fall so they can pile on.

2. Every team you play hates you and does not respect you at all and I mean every team you play. They think you are a coddled media creation that will fold like a cheap tent at the first sign of adversity. The last 12 years or so back them up but bring the intensity and hatred you have for the land thieves to every game. Get on top of your opponent and dominate them into submission and never let up. Make them glad you are leaving so they don't have to face the reality of beat downs like they just took in the future (except bama and the land thieves, serve notice on them that a beat down is the new normal).

3. Understand that you will get no calls from the officials and that in conference play the "unbiased" officials will actively attempt to impede your success. The d-line should be used to this as holding by the Horns opponent is not a penalty in the rulebook.

4. No quarter asked, none given.

Did you guys hear what the big 12 commissioner and his puppet little deputy said about Texas publicly? Absurd absolutely thst grown men in leadership act like this.
I left that little deputy, Tim Weiser, a voicemail, reminding him of Texas record against Kansas State.what a knucklehead. Yeah pal, ill take the win record UT has over KState with Bama.
I have very little doubt that there is going to be a strong opposition to Texas winning games from these children. I hope CDC has alerted in NCAA about the pending BS and it’s potential affect on the game.

I think that the conference hating on Texas (so what’s new?) is a motivator for the team, and leverage for Sark to keep them focused.

I saw this posted on texags, thought it was interesting:

"With Steve, I think one of the things you look at, and Anwar, you've and I've had a lot of discussions," Del Conte said. "What was interesting for us coming through Covid and civil unrest, the football program bared the brunt of that. In Steve's first year, we had 54 guys on scholarship. We were running a tight end at linebacker. We were running wide receivers at safety. We were mixing people. The depth of our teams is different. Our offensive and defensive linemen were different.

"Last year's team ... our average age of our team is 19.2. TCU was almost 23 years old. Georgia was 24. I thought they all went on a Mormon mission. The quarterback was 25. These are not excuses. What I'm saying is we went from here to here, so I look at building blocks. I walk out there, Anwar, and say, gosh dang it, this team looks so different. We look like the first year I was at Rice. We played Texas in 2006, Whoa, that's a team. Offensive line, we've got dudes. You got dudes on the defensive line. We've got receivers. We look completely different than three years ago.

Kelvin Banks says hello.
B12 1st team 2022 for OL says otherwise (4/5 OL are likely 3* playing for KSU, TCU, and WV):

Finally, using a “once every 20 years” type of player to make a point is dubious at best. Considering there are 5 OL positions, you are basically correct 1% of the time by my estimate. I take my 99% chances.

And I could easily spit out almost unlimited 3 star senior players who couldn't sniff a 5 star freshmans jock strap. Don't go posting generalizations like that and get offended when I immediately point out what I did. We both know there are exceptions either way.

If your view was correct (talent > experience), Texas would lose 1 conference game at most every year for the last 10 years. That obviously didn’t happen, so?

Now you want to change it to Texas' results? We both know why we've underperformed since Charlie came. Clearly it's because we haven't had enough elite tight ends. :whiteflag: :trophy: :smile1:

Moral of the story to Sark: Have a big lead early as every call is going against you.

I like how the Big XII has responded to the loss of Texas and OU. They didn't crawl into a shell, go cry to mama. They were proactive in keeping the conference viable. I say good for them.

Having said all of that, with the Commissioner's response in Lubbock, I say burn every opponent to the ground this year. I'm not one for running up the score on a helpless opponent. But this year, do it. And do it with malice.

And now Urban Meyer is praising the Horns
Why?
Walking Boss' excellent rebuttal and advice should be taped to every locker

I still think dont play any Big 12 team including TT Bye Bye
This. Especially Tech which has grown fully into their sand aggyness to the point they rival aggy. The big 12 (or whatever they will ultimately be called) is now just a crazy ex-girlfriend and nothing can be gained by scheduling them in football. Other sports like KU in basketball may be ok, but bailor, sand aggy, city schools and anything purple should be off the table as far as scheduling.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, collect yourselves; reign in your emotions. We seek not retribution towards our enemies. Nay, we strive to triumph with honor and the satisfaction of knowing we did enough to merely defeat rather than humiliate our foes.... said no true Longhorn fan ever.

bring the intensity and hatred you have for the land thieves to every game.

The last 12 years = 4-10 with one of those being avenged in the conference championship game. Maybe intensity and hatred hasn't been what it was supposed to be. I do think Sark may be different. Time will tell.

OUBubba, good to see you back on Hornfans. You raise a point about intensity - IMO, you should never have to question intensity in this matchup. Talent may be one-sided, breaks may go all one direction - but intensity should never be in question.
