this entire event is a little microcosm of our society today. Keep in mind however, that this did take place in Baltimore. I would probably only label Detroit as a worse city and that is debatable because most people have left detroit.
I thought it was interesting watching the video. Attack happens in McDonald's, employees watch and make video. Then, the animals leave. No help is given to the woman. They watch and film her flop on the floor, that is the disturbing part. Then, they dont protect her, they let animals come back and kick her in the head a few times, then leave again. She has a pretty good case against McDonalds for not rendering aid once the first attack was over. Story makes national news, black women beats up what is believed to be white woman, charges are filed. The hate crime charge starts to grab interest when it is discovered she is transgender (this is why i hate the hate crime legislation, its stupid and i guess it wasnt enough that it was just a white woman). Then, also because she is transgender, she gets additional public interest from the transgender/gay groups that want to politicize the event as a hate crime. The reality is, the girls were just thugs that wanted to put a beatdown on her but instead it becomes a political event.
