thanksgiving games (all of them, including all Texas games) will be on YouTube per release from Paradise Jam.

Never watched a full game on youtube before, just the occasional snippets of highlights. Sure hope this works out well.

I am still puzzled how Texas succumbed first to agree to play the aggy. Sure hope this is not a sign of desperation.

We were contractually obligated to play whoever the tournament scheduled. We didnt know we'd be playing Aggy until after the contract was signed.

Hopefully, the team will get some sun and have some fun at St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands this Thanksgiving. The basketball games are going to be really tough. Syracuse and A&M come in undefeated. The ‘Cuse comes in at 5-0 with a 69-65 win over Washington State on the road their best win to date. A&M is 3-0 with a 63-51 at Houston the headline win of those three games. Memphis is coming in at 3-2 while Texas is 3-1. This will be the first time that Texas plays Syracuse and Memphis. Horns took the last two games played between the Horns and A&M.

The Syracuse Orange have started the same five players in their five games. McD AAs Brittney Sykes (5-9 Soph. G, 20.6 ppg) and Brianna Butler (5-11 Soph. G, 13.4 ppg) join Shakeya Leary (6-3 RS Sr. C, 10.8 ppg) as the top scorers for the Orange. Leary is averaging a double double with 11.4 rpg. She is also the top shot blocker with seven. Isabella Slim (6-0 Fr. G) and Rachel Coffey (5-7 Sr. G) complete the four guard-one post lineup for the ‘Cuse.

They average 91.2 ppg with the starters averaging 53.2 ppg. They get plenty of help from the bench. Sykes & Butler are the only players averaging more than 20 mpg. 11 players have played in all five games. Ten of those average at least 10 mpg. The Orange like to shoot the 3, with about 36% of their shots coming from BTA. Butler (17-44) & Slim (6-25) are the main threats among the starting five. Off the bench, La’Shay Taft (5-7 Sr. G) at 12-35 and Taylor Ford (6-0 Soph. F) at 8-17 are the ones most likely to pull the trigger from BTA.

A&M is 3-0 heading into this tournament. The best win in those three games is a 63-51 road win over Houston. Achiri Ade (6-1 Jr. F transfer from Midland JC), Courtney Walker (5-8 Soph. G), Karla Gilbert (6-5 Sr. C), Jordan Jones (5-6 Soph. G) and (5-9 Soph. G) have been the starters for all three games. Ade (14.3 ppg) and Walker (12.3 ppg) are the leading scorers for A&M. Ade (8.0 rpg), Gilbert (7.7 rpg) and Courtney Williams (6-1 Soph. G/F; 7.5 rpg) are the leading rebounders. Gilbert is the top shot blocker with 5. Walker (2-3) and Jordan Jones (5-6 Soph. G; 2-5) and Williams (0-5) have been the main shooters from BTA.

Horns won the last two games these two played in the 2011-12 season after losing 11 in a row. Horns lead the overall series 60-23.

The Memphis Tigers are coming off a loss that leaves them at 3-2. They are the most likely team to go 0-3 in the tournament. Like Texas, the Tigers have had a couple of different lineups. Pa’Sonna Hope (6-2 Sr. F), Asianna Fuqua-Bey (6-1 Soph. F), Ariel Hearn (5-7 Soph. G) and Mooriah Rowser (5-8 RS Fr. G) have started all five games for Memphis. Devin Mack (5-10 Sr. G) has started four while Brei Wilder-Cochran (5-9 Fr. G) got the other start.

The Tigers have three players in double digit scoring and two that are just off averaging a double double. Hearn (18.0 ppg), Hope (10.2 ppg) and Wilder-Cochran (10.0 ppg) are the leading scorers. Hope (9.8 rpg) and Fuqua-Bey (9.2 ppg & 8.2 rpg) are the leading rebounders along with Jasbriell Swain (5-8 Sr. G) who is averaging 7.0 rpg off the bench. Ariel (5-16) and Mack (5-12) have been the most effective shooters from BTA. Wilder-Cochran (0-7) and Taylor Williams (6-1 Fr. G, 2-9) are the other main 3pt threats for Memphis who is currently at 24.5% from BTA.

Chassidy will run into someone from her high school as Brandi Goodman (6-2 Fr. F) hails from her HS alma mater, Obion County Central HS in Troy, Tenn.

Texas is led by three players in double digits: Nneka (14.0 ppg & 10.5 rpg); Chassidy (13.3 ppg & 6.8 rpg) and Imani (12.8 ppg & 9.3 rpg). In Texas’ four games, Chassidy, Nneka and Krystle have started all four games. Imani has three starts, Empress and Brady two each. Nine players have played in all four games with all averaging from 11 to 30 mpg (Chassidy). Chassidy is the only one over 30 mpg at 30.5. The Horns are getting good balance and support from the bench in scoring, rebounding and playing time.

The overall FG% is about the same as last season (39.7% to 40.0%) but 3pt shooting is 32.8% this season compared to 27.8% last season. FT shooting is also improved, going from 64.9% to 74.0% to date.

While Chassidy continues to be the main threat from BTA (6-18), others are also hitting from BTA: Krystle (3-11); Imani (2-3); Brady (2-5); Celina (4-5) and Gigi (2-3). They provide important balance to help Chassidy get better looks. Imani leads the conference with 3 blocks a game. Kelsey is tied for 8t with 1.25 blocks a game. They, along with Nneka, provide a strong interior defense which helps Texas outrebound opponents by 15 rebs per game.

Horns will have a tough stretch beginning with Syracuse and ending with Memphis. They do have a good chance to win the tournament. A&M will be out to claim scoreboard once again. Chassidy is on a two game winning streak against A&M. Nneka and Brady have never lost to the Aggies. The rest of the team has never played them.

Tigers play three games in three days at Paradise Jam

for those that are interested, Kansas also is playing in the PJ and will play at 2:30 today (if I did the time shift right).

Always good to get a look at a conference foe, especially since they will be playing Central Michigan, Xavier and Duke.

Yikes! I think I saw Coach Aston in flip flops.

<Sarcasm> Sorry, y'all.

just watching the Central Michigan-Kansas game. The live feed is awesome. Can't wait to watch the Texas game.

lost the feed on the A&M vs Memphis game with 1:13 to go in the first half. 30-25, iirc. Aggies best defend has been putting Memphis on the free throw line as the Tigers have missed something like 11 of 12 since I started keeping track.

A&M beats Memphis 69-59. Memphis had a tough time making FTs in the first half. A&M still presses a lot but not quite as in your face as they used to, probably due to new rules.

Texas is not shooting well.
They almost look like they are scared or something.
And the pressure Orange Women are applying is not really that tough. Orange 27 to Texas 18

29-25 'Cuse at the half. Horns continue their cold shooting. thought maybe the sun at the VIs would warm them up. Playing solid D, though. Didn't see anything going in inside from our posts other than a couple of missed shots in close.

wow, if it wasn't for the 3pt shooting (71%) Horns would be dead in the water. The team got six pts from our posts and one pt from FTs. Getting to the FT line three times is hard to believe. Team needs to get there more often by driving to the basket.

Still, Horns got a chance to win this game. The Orange is up mainly on the strength of making 9-15 FTs.
