Pack Your Bags Shaka!

A. Jones and Ramey played 39 and 38 minutes respectively. Shaka only played eight guys. WTF

And who was that suited up in the WVU uniforms? It was not the same team that abused the Horns previously.

PEOPLE, PEOPLE, PEOPLE !!! :clap::clap::clap:

WORK WITH ME PEOPLE, WORK WITH ME !!!

We could be looking at a dynasty of NIT Championships here.

My gawd, let's do this!

I guess Shaka is just being forced to play people who probably should have gotten more playing time all along. Baker needs to continue to get more playing time before he ends up in the dreaded transfer portal. I am sure many teams would love to see that happen. I think the Texas women are really hurting from losing their big girl Sedona Prince.

Fire Shaka! He has won three games in a row with the practice squad. Other schools are getting tired of being bullied by Texas. He has obviously lost the team! I mean our best players have been out the last three games. What a loser! Stop the winning streak! Fire fire Shaka now.

There, does that not make you feel better?

It is not the coach who should be dismissed, but the fans.

Actually, he is just playing the people he has been forced to play who he has played because other better players have been injured, just in case no one has noticed.

So, this is what's going to keep us in the middling NCAA doldrums for the next 10 years.

The fact that Shaka is finally "hitting his groove" against 2 bottom dwellers of the conference plus a struggling WVU is not a great resume builder for why we (or any other school) should seriously consider keeping/hiring him. But we'll use it as fuel for why that buyout is too big.

Look at how the whole Sims/Liddell thing has played out. This is EXACTLY what happened with Hayes last year, yet we were somehow better once he was gone? How does that work? It's because Shaka doesn't understand how to use the personnel. We coasted past mediocre teams in the NIT and chalked it up to "he's really got the team fired up and working together well" and then fall right back into our old trap of losing to ****** teams by 30 points and Charlie Strong -esque responses of "we've just got to get better." Nevermind that he doesn't have a single recruit committed for next year or beyond.

Don't get me wrong... I love winning and I want nothing more than this ragtag roster to make the NCAAs, even if we lose a first round game as an 11 seed or something. That's still preferable to the NIT. But Shaka is the problem with the program right now.

All three of the remaining games are winnable, if Texas shoots and plays the way they played the last couple of games. If Texas can win out, they will be set up to win at least 1 game in the Big 12 tourney....21-12 record possible and actually get a respectable seeding in the Big Dance, and a chance to win a 1st round game...Remember seeding is based on record and how you are playing in late February and March. Shaka returns next season if he can get this done. Karen on the other hand is doomed if CDC cares about WBB.

Karen Aston had a really nice run there for a few years and I thought the women's team was gonna break through but the last couple of years it does seem like we are going backwards.

I'm still ok with Shaka playing out his contract and then being replaced by the ball boy.... if we end up with several consecutive NIT/CBI titles over those years, well, there's that....

I haven't been here in a while but where's all the guys that wanted Barnes gone because all did was make the tournament every year but 1?

So, the deal is, Barnes couldn't coach/hated offense, so it was frustrating to watch him take talented players and make them the best defender at their position in the Big 12. "We" thought if we got a better "coach" that the new coach would take that same talent, teach them some offense and then BOOM another final four! But, this is the state of Texas and we like football and not basketball so much and great ballers want to go to the basketball schools in states that actually like basketball. So, we either keep getting crappy coaches or learn to accept that Texas will never be a bball power....U of H, maybe.....and yes.....I feel like it could maybe possibly perhaps be a racial thing....

The criticism of Barnes had a lot to do with the one-and-done guys like Turner. He was fine recruiting otherworldly talent, knowing that they'd help us out for a year, but our biggest team successes were when he took guards with good-to-great talent and used strong, heady specialists in the frontcourt to put us in a position to win. He tried to turn Turner into a center when he's more of a Kevin Garnett. He had no patience for AAU-style highlight reels and wanted everyone to play his way, and it's why Turner shut it down in the stretch run to get ready for the Draft.

When he was called out on it and ordered to go find assistants who could utilize offensive talent, Barnes said to go ahead and fire him because he's not changing.

I definitely criticized Barnes for how he handled the team in his waning years, from the J'Covan Brown mess to how he positioned guys like Cory Joseph to succeed. But hiring Shaka was a Patterson dumb bill of goods that didn't address our problems on the court.

How jcovan brown was underutilized angered me so very much. Hang 30 on Kansas? Go ahead and sit next game for not playing defense well enough....

There were definitely some shady things going on as well. The AAU "agents" with the Canadian connection to Thompson, Kabongo, etc. and also when Shaka showed up and everyone realized that Davis and Ibeh had received improper benefits under Barnes' watch as well. I think admin cut bait rather than try to have him do a Tom Herman style reboot.

Get out of here , Shaka!

Outscored TTU by 17 in the second half to win by 10. What a wimpy performance! You had 7 capable players at the end of the game. You should have buried them by at least 20!

Fire Shaka now! He is winning when Texas should not be. Oh, the agony!

He has truly lost this team.

Fourth straight win and suddenly with OU and OSU left on schedule finishing 9-9 in conference is a very realistic goal and 10-8 is still possible. This team is showing tremendous heart at the finish and just have to hope it continues for a couple more games because if it does and they can win 2-3 more games between the regular season and the Big XII tourney they just might find themselves with a most improbable NCAA berth.:hookem:

Texas shot 52% FG and 46% 3PT to Sand Aggys 33% and 31%. We also grabbed 8 more rebounds. Way to fight for your job Shaka. About efffing time. God bless Andrew Jones for leading all scorers with 22.

Congratulations to the Horns. They shot close to 60% in the second half and for the most part took good shots. Streaks (winning or losing) are apparently what you get with Smart, which goes with the shooting. They did show some toughness not seen very much this season and from the part I watched, Cunningham seems to be a catalyst for that.

Beard on Texas Men's Basketball Team:

The Red Raiders have won five straight in this matchup, but few were as important for the Horns as Saturday.

“I would tell you they’re one of the hottest teams in college basketball,” Beard said. “They’re one of the best coached teams in college basketball, so we expect an all-out game.”

Is there higher praise for an opponent? Was it not indeed prescient?

And Texas won the second half by 17! I wonder what changed in this team after the ISU debacle? I know Jones has been huge these last few games. The bench players...just a whole different attitude. Havoc?

I sat down to eat my Schlotskys sandwich and turned the tele on and caught the last 5 minutes. I was pulling for us hard!

Nice to see us hold on to win. I heard it was actually a comeback, as we were down 7(?) at half.

Good road win! :hookem:
