OU's Chaisson still has issues

Glad to see this gem of a thread is alive and well after I pwned loop. Way to keep at it, loopy. That's the spirit.

Some people fail to see a distinction between Kindle's "DWT" and Chaisson's crimes. So far 100% of those people on this thread appear not to have the benefit of a UT education. The tuition, though higher than before, is still affordable.

and none of the Okies ever addressed houstonearlers or loopies points about "pre-admission" crimes and the difference between Stoops and Mack. Methinks they have no case, your Honor.

Hook'em!!!

H69, there isn't much to discuss. I already addressed the issue on Page 1, if you'd so kindly like to read it.

Bob and Mack have different philosophies on bringing kids into the program. Bob is willing to stick his neck out there, if he feels the kid can turn things around. He's gotten burned a few times, but has also been proven right a few times, too.

Mack is not willing to take such a risk. So, what? I don't feel giving a kid an opportunity to turn their life around is such a bad thing. You may get burned in the end, if the individual isn't able to handle things in the right way, but there's also the oppotunity for a real success story, too.

I still find it a little funny that none of you see the sweet irony in Mack's approach, though. You're all so hot-'n'-bothered over Mack's pristine recruiting approach, yet fail to get onto him for all the apparent whiffs --and there have been many -- in regards to poor player evaluation. He managed to let a kid willing to commit armed robbery on the team. At least with Chaisson, all the cards were on the table. Everyone knew what was expected of them before Chaisson enrolled. Justin knew, and still does know, that one false step means immediate dismissal. His current issues aren't particularly funny, which is why this thread should've been locked after post #3.

Life is all about second chances. Why is that such a bad thing to you guys? If we get burned, so be it. Life goes on. It doesn't affect my life moving forward in any meaningful way, even if Stoops might have a little egg on his face. I already admitted there have been a couple of kids I wouldn't have brought in, but it's not my program to make those decisions. That makes my opinion, like all of your's, neither good or bad.

I know one thing, though. For the kids that managed to turn things around, like McGruder, the reward was worth the risk. These guys made a positive impact on the university and their teammates. And it doesn't take a UT education to understand that, Cap'n Obvious.

Is OU still on probation or did they get off the latest one last year?

Upcoming season...will they be on probation again? They can't be too far from overtaking Bama as tops of all time infractions, right? There is hope yet.

I would most likely be very disgusted. You are correct. It could happen too but if it did you would still not want to compare the vast amounts of your program v. that of Texas, would you? No, you would not. But the little moral victory of Texas getting busted for something v. the many times OU has would make it all okay. Sort of like the deflecting that OU fans do when it comes to this. The way they can sit in front of a tv or in the stands and root for a team that is probably cheating as they step on the field in some fashion or another. It's impossible to ever see a successful season from that school and not wonder if they are or not. It's just the rep they have earned.

Bus driver.

Call me the deflector. Loop........I played baseball at OU in the early and mid eighties. I know things. My friends were all football players. I don't type them because it's impolite and my friends would be pissed. Skeletons my friend. I always ask the question.......Who bought Edwin that seven series Beamer? Just because you got away with it, doesn't prove innocence.

Talk about providing a near-perfect clinic on how to continuously deflect a direct topic?!?!? You gooners have this talent down to an art.

You unabashedly chastise Loop and offer up some very loose fitting examples in your attempt to defend Stoopsie, blOwU's athletic department, the football staff's ability to locate and recruit fine, young criminals and this loose cannon of a psychopath Chaisson.

OUE, you choose to paint your responses with eloquent wording in your attempt to prove yourself the "more educated". Tiger you come in and boast about your mobilehoma athletic past (cheers to you for that BTW) and how you obviously must have the "in" on the what's & why's these kids are "stand up citizens" enough to wear the crimson & cream. Both arguments of yours are so incredibly weak in terms of the topic and the foundation for building a plausible position. And yet you still delicately accuse Loop of doing the very act of what you yourselves are guilty of.

DEFLECT! DEFLECT! DEFLECT!

As a follow up, may I dare ask you both what your definition of "is" is?

Bottom line, does Chaisson have a criminal record? Yes or no?
Did Stoops keep his offer active even after his arrest for this act? Y or N?
Did Chaisson plead guilty to this crime? Y or N?
Is this kid suffering from 'depression'? Y or N?
Will this kid graduate from OU? Will this kid ever play in the NFL? Will this kid manage to stay out of jail later as an adult?
Would you let your daughters go out with Chaisson? Y or N?

Yes or no?????

There, that should make this easy. Unless, of course, you two continue your trend of deflecting. I've got my padded suit on, now let'em rip!

Mack will give a kid a 2nd chance. But not a 3rd. And aren't we talking about the privilege - privilege - of playing Div 1 football at a top tier program?!? Chaisson kidnapped a girl and held a screwdriver to her neck. Holy crap. Please don't come over here and defend Stoops' magnanimity in fulfilling a scholarship offer.

You can fault Mack's character evaluations, but these kids didn't have rap sheets coming in, or they wouldn't be offered. When it comes to managing issues when they arise, Mack's got a pretty low tolerance for mis-steps and misdemeanors. Stoops will take whomever he thinks he can help him win, and keep them eligible as long as public opinion allows, plus some.

Still no answer from the faux educated, yeesh.

Let's wait until UT is even close to being in the realm of cheating that OU resides in to see how I or anybody else would react. I would never root for a team with the sordid past of OU so that is a good indicator of whay would be my reaction if I had to decide. But we are not there nor close to it. My team is not the second most penalized.

Its like asking a robber if stealing is bad. Of course OU fans have no issues with their team.

Agree to disagree.

And the beat goes on.

Here's to a great season OUE for the both of us and to an awesome RRS match-up. "

"OUE concedes the point, yet that isn't good enough for some of you."

Haha

#sooners redshirt freshman defensive end Justin Chaisson has withdrawn from school, coach Bob Stoops said today. Chaisson was a HS All-Amer.

- tweet from Mike Strain - Tulsa World

bob stoops told the team.... "he is back in vegas. he just didn't want to do it anymore."

He is a recruit with a criminal record and still being recruited?

ftr, I am not an RC fan and if he is guilty I hope he pays dearly for it.

Happy for Justin, if leaving the program is what it takes for him to get his life straightened out. I know he is battling his demons and doesn't have the support system in place in Norman to deal with it. He was a good student/teammate while on campus.
