OU's Chaisson still has issues

As if holding a screwdriver to your girlfriend's neck isn't enough to get you kicked off a Bob Stoops team, OU is mulling over whether Justin Chaisson will rejoin the team due to some "personal issues."

Team photo or mugshot?

Yea, being in college smoking a little dope and drinking those are hard crimes to be put in the book with a screwdriver to a girl's throat, great comparison!!!!!

Just a small technicality, Tiger, which does not take away the oompf of your post but Ramonce was NOT on the team when he got arrested. He had been let go for a good amount of time. He was hoping to jump through the hoops Mack laid out for him and to achieve the things he needed to do in order to be let back on the team. His arrest sealed that up to never happen. I know, small portion of the names you listed but it needs to be clarified regarding him.

Also, if you want to compare what that guy did to his girlfriend and having four felonies waved at you to what the above did, well, that's tweaked. Then there is the head stomping and other things.

We have had our issues but they have been dealt with, often times being let go of the team (such as the home invasion boys and Mr. Car Garage). They did not pass go.

This dude is a special breed it seems and I can assure you that under no circumstance would Mack Brown EVER EVER let him attend school here. Think back to a CB in Texarkana who was going to come here and got accused of rape. He was cut loose and then allowed by Okie Lite to go there while his trial was pending. Not until he was found guilty was he let go from there.

See, Mack cut the strings yet Bob allows the guy in with 4 felonies pleaded down to misdemeanors. I don't give a **** what special conditions were laid out. It does not matter. Any coach with any self-respect or class will take a pass on the guy right after this went down. He needs to go the small school or Juco transer way if even then. He would never find his way to UT.

That, is a fact and a stark difference in the two programs. One of many with the distaste factor leaning heavy in OU's disfavor. Facts back this up and you know this to be true.

You guys are all class.

You don't even have a clue why he has left the team. I know FOR A FACT -- unlike any of you -- Justin isn't dealing with any legal or academic issues. His problem at the moment is a depression issue.

And loop, you can rationalize all you like about the litany of issues your student-athletes have had, but at the end of the day, when people think of guys like Ramonce Taylor and Rashad Bobino, they will be associated with your program. Fair or not, perception is that Mack has brought in some pretty shady characters. Is that his fault? Not always, but it is what it is.

The part that gets most people is the great lengths to which your staff goes to convince everyone that you only bring in 'good kids that graduate.' Sorry, but that sanctimonious ******** wore a little thin after the last 5 years.

No offense, but EVERY coaching staff has the goal to bring in good kids. For some, 'good kids', is a moving line. I fully admit there are a few kids I wish Stoops hadn't brought into our program. Chaisson is an example of one such kid. I thought the risk was too high, given the circumstances. That said, Stoops doesn't propagandize some standard by which we base our recruiting philosophy. Chaisson has been on probation since arriving, and from all accounts, has met the level necessary to remain a member of the team.

Regardless, starting this thread as nothing more than a means to rip on a kid for no real reason is bush league and most of you are above it. It should be locked.

That dude should not even be ON a team to be dismissed or need to take care of any issues whatsoever. Deflect and make excuses which is typical for a team with the cheating history of OU, a team who cannot and does not win without it. I don't know how anybody with any self respect could ever root for a team like that. It escapes me how one can know of the past and how things may not have even changed yet still root for a team like that. Says a lot about some people.

OU Engineer, if Chaisson is battling with depression, my deepest and sincerest sympathies. Seriously.

But as others have pointed out, I'm pretty sure Mack wouldn't let a guy who did what Chaisson did on his team in the first place. I understand that despite a coach's best efforts bad apples slip by, but for the most part I think Mack has promptly dismissed those kinds of players when the issue arises (e.g., Andre Jones, Robert Joseph, Ramonce Taylor, Buck Burnette).

Another guy Mack would not have even thought to bring on for one split second was Lyn McGruder. Never, ever.

As mentioned above, having a kid not turn out the way you thought is one thing. That can and does happen to every coach, every program. But not every coach or program brings in the kids that Stoops will.

OU fans just don't get it. Notice they never talk about their prolific cheating. They pretend it never happened. They put their fingers in their ears and yell out, "la la la la I can't hear you". Same thing here.

...and don't ever forget Stoopsed getting a medical redshirt, based on mental illness, for a sweetheart player that damn near killed his best friend with a baseball bat.

Perhaps my earlier post was a little too well hidden tongue in cheek for you Gooners but I digress. Chaisson is battling depression, you say? Maybe he suffers from (OAtS) Overtrained Athletes Syndrome?

I hear tell this debilitating disease can cause steroid like symptoms to surface like: pissing positive for steroid use or severe rage or mood swings or manic depression or... man boobs.

Well, honestly I don't know if OAtS really does all of this but one very credible NFL source claims it does. Should we get Brian Cushing on the phone?...

It's easy for ou.

loop,

What was this thread about? Oh yea, Chaisson. I forgot, as you intentionally tried to derail into an argument with me you might stand a puncher's chance at winning.

You're the one deflecting. I readily own up to my program's past transgressions. How do I live with myself? Seriously? I start by laughing my *** off when you say stupid **** like this. Your viewpoint is so shallow and narrow-minded as to make it untenable. If UT was caught with major violations this year what would be your action plan to disassociate yourself from the program? I mean, this is the only reasonable thing a 'real fan' can do. Give me an honest answer. Oh, you would still be a fan of your program? You don't say. Get over yourself. You are no 'better' a fan than I. I don't condone cheating, nor do I promote my program's faults as a model of virtue. I never have and never will.

You bring up McGruder as if it supports your argument. Lynn was an awesome teammate and person at OU. He never once made Stoops look foolish for giving him a second chance. The only kid you could actually bring up in this discussion to support your flimsy stance is Dvoracek, as his whole situation struck me as shady. I don't deny that alcoholism is a medical problem that needs treatment, but the guy was a bully and a thug, in my opinion. He had issues in high school, in college and has since had issues in Chicago.

Josh Jarboe was given a chance after a gun charge. He was booted before end of spring semester.

Is that it? In over 10 years, we've brought in 5 kids (I'm being generous, since I may have missed a couple.) who I'd have passed on. You call that shameful? Your high and mighty standards are gonna give you a nose bleed, brother.

The issue for you shouldn't be that we've set up shop in front of Huntsville Correctional Facility to fill our roster. The real issue for you should be why your coaching staff has done so poorly at character evaluation. I think Florida is the only program with more player arrests in the last 5 years. Tennessee may be high on that list as well. Guess who isn't real high? Yep, OU. We've had some minor MIP citations (not even arrests) and the aforementioned Dvoracek fiasco, but for the most part, Stoops has kept a tight ship, in regards to legal problems. And you wanna throw stones at him for bringing in a couple of character risks over a decade-long tenure? Get real.

so you think Lyn McGruder deserved another chance after being busted with pot seeds, scales, baggies and parphenalia in his dorm room and managed to get tossed from a Phil Fulmer coached team? No more need be said.

What really cracks me up is that when one of your players gets busted with the ganja the inevitable...........well, it should be legal posts start popping up.

OU fans. It isn't just Chaisson who had legal issues before
stepping on campus.

Jarboe brought a gun to school and Stoops allowed him on the team.

Donald Stephenson was such a criminal his school would not allow him on campus so he had to fax in his LOI from a Home Depot.

Jarvis Jones was kicked off by Les freakin Miles for drugs. This is the same Les Miles who allowed a gangbanger like Prentiss Elliott on his team.

McGruder was a dealer. Great that he turned his life around. But Jesus if Phil Fullmer kicks you off...

Brown will absolutely not recruit kids who have serious legal issues before stepping on campus. Chris Collins is one example. A more telling example is Brandon Duncan. He was a 4* linebacker out of the Metroplex in a year we were absolutely desperate for linebackers (Collins had already been cut loose). Before signing day he got busted for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Mack cut him loose. He ends up playing ball for a Stoops protege Mangino a couple months later.

Jarboe was kicked out of school because your president made Stoops do it after the rap video came out.

Sergio got a DWI. Just like Loadholdt and several other OU players have received. So what?

The running into the apartment thing is a no starter. He did not break any laws and was not caught drinking and driving. That's not to say he was innocent of drinking and driving that night. He very well may have been, just like the numerous college athletes that drink and drive without getting caught every weekend.

I am talking about guys who have committed serious crimes before they are on a team. Stoops will still take them. Mack will not. Find me proof of Mack taking a kid with any kind of record comparable to McGruder, Chaisson, Jarboe, Stephenson, or Jarvis Jones.

You can't because it does not exist. On the contrary, Mack has demonstrated he will cut ties with recruits/verbals who get into legal trouble -- see Chris Collins and Brandon Duncan.

Lets digress..................Kindle, while a member of the Horn football team..............drove his ******* car into an apartment.......do you dispute this? The horn football team has more dui's than anyone can count. Get off it.

What was Kindles crimnial record when recruited? Oh, that's right you have nothing to report on this front.

It's sort of like the cheating thing, deflect, deflect.

Now, start drinking your water if you have not already. Rest, drink water or pickle juice. No alcohol tonight!

Too late Loop...........and they are bringing me more.......please...I love Sergio, he just made a mistake. I hate it when people want to crucify someone for something they do on a regular basis.

Dude, if you fall out tomorrow...just sayin'. Seriously, pound the water bro, pound it. Water is your friend!

TP, Sergio did ******* things and there is no doubt about it. But, again, what did he do previous to being here? Was he arrested or have problems? Is his situation the same as Chaisson? Can you agree that looking at the two guys on paper and not knowing who they are, just the paper would make you think twice about one and not the other? Can you see how they are not comparable PRE committment?

I swear go God, go drink some freaking water the second after you read this and once again, congratulations to you and your family on this great occasion.

Keep arguing and I wish for a super sunny day!
