OU vs Texas Game 2

Pimp Daddy
Was hoping the game would be up on TV by now, but prior game slugfest is still going on.

OU went down in order in the first against Peters.

Hall doubled for Texas with one out.

Weis flied to deep center for out two as Hall moved to third.

Payton walked.

Hinojosa ended the threat and stranded two more runners by flying out to left.

No score after one inning.

Game finally on tv now.

Peters strikes out first man.

Two ground balls are outs two and three.

Peters has retired the first six hitters in order.

To the bottom of the second now with no score.

Montalbano leads off and grounds out to short for out one.

Silver lines to the left fielder for the second out.

Gottsacker in left today again grounds out to short to end the inning.

No score after two innings.

Peters K's the leadoff hitter swinging for out one.

Ground ball to second is out two.

Another ground ball out to second ends the inning.

Peters retires the OU lineup in order the first time around.

Peters looking really sharp with all his pitches. He will probably need to stay that way as this looks like another low scoring game even with the wind blowing out to left.

To the bottom of three now with no score

Marlow leads off and grounds out to short on the first pitch.

Johnson pops out to short for out two.

Hall grounds out to third to end the inning.

No score after 3 innings.

Peters walks the lead off man to end his streak and put a man on.

A sac bunt moves him over to second on out one.

Peters K's the OU slugger White swinging for out two.

Now the OU leading hitter and leading the league in every category it seems Oberste flies out to center to
end the inning.

Nice recovery by Peters and to the bottom of the fourth now still no score.

As we cross over the 2,000 post mark and I think like 1500 have been doing baseball game threads.

Weis leads off and K's swinging for out one.

Payton lines a drive to left and the left fielder slides and misses it and it bounces straight up high and Payton is in with a double.

Hinojosa again up with a runner in scoring position.

He flies out to left center for out two.

Montalbano K's swinging and another runner stranded.

No score after four innings.

Peters gets the first out of the fifth with a line drive right to Silver at first.

Groound ball to Marlow is out two.

Hard combacker to Peters and he knocks it down and makes the play to first to end the inning.

Half through already in a fast ground ball out game mostly with no score.

Silver leads off and looked bad striking out swinging on three pitches for out one.

Gottsacker singles up the middle on the first pitch as he is the latest Horn that has entered the lineup and hitting for now at least.

Marlow walks on four pitches as the OU pitcher was more concerned with Gottsacker at first even throwing over on a 3-0 count.

Two on for Johnson with yet another chance to score.

Johnson with a liner to right center for a hit and Gottsacker scores to make it 1-0 Texas and Marlow moved all the way to third!

Finally a big hit and you need to score Marlow now at least.

Hall tries the safety squeeze and fouls it off,

Now Johnson is picked off first. Augie is not pleased as he comes to the dugout.

Hall flies out to end the inning. Even when we do score we seem to mess things up. Should have been more.

Texas does lead now however, 1-0 after five innings.

Peters with yet another ground ball to second for out one.

A swinging K is out two.

Shallow fly ball to left is the third out as Peters has retired nine in a row again.

Bottom of the sixth coming as Texas leads 1-0.

Peters thru 6 innings.....no perfect game, but I haven't seen a sooner get a hit yet

Great game going here, two great pitching performances. Much more entertaining than what's going on in the phone booth in Arlington next door to six flags

Weis leads off K's swinging on three pitches for out one.

Payton grounds a ball into the hole on the right side and a bang bang play at first he is called out. He is not happy and out comes Augie to argue to no avail. Really hard to tell even with a replay.

Of course Hinojosa singles to center on the first pitch after that play.

Montalbano flies out to right to end the inning.

To the seventh Texas leads 1-0.

Big inning for Peters coming here with the heart of the OU lineup coming up.

You can bet Knebel is stretching and could come in at any time now after not working yesterday.

0u down in order in the 7th....sooners have no runs, no hits, no Longhorn errors.

Give me a game like this over a 8-6 type game anyday

Hard hit liner to left is out one.

Short fly to right is brought back by the wind to Marlow just in foul territory as he falls down making the catch for out two.

Another fly ball to about the same area is caught this time by Payton in fair ground for the third out.

Great job by Peters as has retired 12 in a row now and 21 of 22 batters faced.

He really deserves the W today. Wish we could have pushed across another run when we scored.

To the stretch Texas hanging on 1-0 with almost perfect pitching by Peters.

Silver pops out to shallow right for out one.

Gottsacker grounds out to short for out two.

Marlow with another ground ball to short is the third out.

Texas leads 1-0 after seven completed.

Lead off man rips a double off the left field wall to break up the no hitter and now the game is in jeopardy.

Hard one hopper right back to Peters and he catches the man off second and he is tagged out.

Base running mistake may cost OU.

A bunt is popped up to Peters for out two.

A single to center and the base running miscue may well have cost the Sooners.

Here comes Skip as there is two on and two out.

Here comes Knebel.

Great job by Peters and hopefully he will be rewarded with a win.

Knebel faces a pinch hitter for OU and he blows him away with hard stuff to end the threat.

Texas leads still 1-0 to the bottom of the eighth.

Johnson leads off and lines out to center.

Hall walks to put a man on and we need to manufacture a run here somehow with the running game.

Hall is picked off first and it's just too many base running mistakes.

Weis wears a big hat today as he K's swinging for the third time today as he has had no clue against the lefty's breaking.
stuff.

Texas leads 1-0 as we go to the ninth and it's up to Knebel as it often is.

Awesome baseball game, a thrill to watch.

I can't lay blame on our bats, the 0u pitcher was very good. Peters and Knebel were just better

Knebel with a fly to left for out one.

He K's swinging the next hitter for out two.

Comebacker to Knebel ends the game.

Texas wins 1-0!

It wasn't perfect pitching but it was good enough.

Winning games like this though is a hard proposition to keep up.

Our bats have been this way for over two years now against all kind of pitching.

Tech did this to us and look how they are doing now.

What games have you been watching?

We have scored two runs in two complete games in this series and it's a minor miracle to be tied in it 1-1.

We scored two runs in the first two games against the great Tech pitchers. Who by the way got clobbered again today 15-2.

Of course your first two posts are about the no hitter currently in progress for Texas so maybe baseball isn't exactly your strong suit.

Tomorrow we have a good chance to win because OU has had problems finding a third starting pitcher.

We should have every opportunity put up some runs for Thornhill.

I played the game to the Junior College level.
This a not a one time thing, it has gone on and on and has been a pattern.

How many examples do you need?
Tech's pitching has been atrocious except in our series.
It's not a just lately thing as you conveniently leave out where I said this has been going on for over two years.

How can you possibly say our hitting has been anemic "just lately" in a serious tone?

How many games have you seen?

I "once" saw Nolan Ryan do this. Did you see it happen repeatedly? Maybe you should go check out that Tech pitching staff and see how it compares to what you saw once.

I "once" saw Roger Clemens give up a home run in the top of the ninth to lose to Texas Lutheran and get the loss. It was the first loss ever to that school in over 50 games played between the two schools.

He didn't exactly go on to have a bad season.

I will put my knowledge of the game of baseball against yours anytime.

Since you want to go there how much did you ever play the game?

Oh Please. "as of late" was kind of a tounge and cheek statement meaning the last several years. Get a grip.

You lost your grip with the Nolan Ryan and did you ever play the game stuff.

How tongue in cheek was that statement? Yeah I did play, still haven't heard if you did.

Kind of backfired on you didn't it?

Well ok if you put it that way.

This baseball has me pissed off, not used to it being so bad for this long. It was always the saving grace when football or to a lesser extent basketball failed.

I was pretty close to the program when I was at UT as I played with and against some of those guys in JC.

I watched it go bad at the end of Coach Gus's tenure because of internal things that caused recruiting to go bad and that has happened again and it may or may not be fixed now with Nicholson.

I hate seeing it going so badly and people saying that everything is ok, because it isn't.

I guess, as with all the sports teams at me beloved UT right now, I have become comfortably numb. One beer on its way.

Is it August yet?????
