i hope it's a good game too...seems to be so far. Tenn came ready to play and doesn't seem too intimidated by the crowd. i'm shocked CP has 2 fouls 5 minutes into the game. how often does that happen?
i don't know about having 3 commentators for a game...knight and lieberman are both great basketball minds. but a lot of talking. OU playing much better basketball. CP missing a lot of chippies, though. at this rate she'll be in til the end of the game trying to keep the streak. she looks gassed.
CP looked on the verge of tears on the bench...i think she does care about the streak. and i'm not saying she shouldn't. it's unrivaled. will never be topped. but i'm glad it's done. they need to focus on team play if they want to push for a national title this season. they are definitely playing like a final four team right now.
you're so right, tott. i think in too many games now they've been worried about giving the ball to her at the end of the game. they were up by 18, then gave up the game plan trying to get the ball to her. in any event.....good win for the Big 12!!!
as tott said earlier....she looked gassed. TN ran the hell out of her the first 5 mins., and drew 2 fouls within that time. even though she sat for a long time, i think she was too exhausted to be able to even put in a layup. though i'm excited (kinda) for Pat...it's good that her 1,000th win didn't come in Big 12 land!!!!!
Why was Brent Musberger calling this game? He kept calling Stricklen "Stricken." If you are going to cover the game at least know how to pronounce the names of the players. And Bobby Knight? I would rather have had two commentators who follow and really know the women's game.
Hated to see Baugh go down. I fear that her collegiate career may have ended with that injury. She had the potential to be one of the great Tennessee players.
As for the streak, Paris went 4-12 from the floor, certainly not worthy of a double-double. And I thought it tacky that Coale kept running plays for her at the end of the game trying to keep the streak alive but then said later that maybe it is a good thing that the streak ended. The double-double is only impressive if it comes in the natural flow of the game, not because the coach keeps running plays that are obviously meant to do nothing other than try to keep the streak alive. And yes, I think that the Tennessee players were fouling on purpose to keep the ball out of Paris's hands. I wonder if Summitt ordered that or if the players decided on their own to do that.
