Hunter had been out of the game for a while too. Rice was in the middle of the comeback to lead the team to the win. I would prefer Rice too.

Horns were fortunate to win this game. Ou misses a point bland 2 footer at the buzzer which would have tied.
Horns have been a bit sloppy on both ends lately. Making unsmart fouls, Car taking an a three in the last minute instead of burning clock and looking for a closer look. And not calling time out in the last 30 seconds of regulation to set up defense and prevent the tying three. How about fouling the man taking the ball up court and making him shoot two free throws. Make him hit them, we rebound run out the clock and win in reg.

Didn’t get to see it live but just finished on demand and Texas got away with one. Gave up lead down stretch in regulation and then same in OT. Up 84-77 and dont score rest of way until ft at end and barely hold on by literal inches on point blank miss, but it’s a win and I’ll take it. Horns need to go 2-2 these last 4 to wrap up a 2/3 seed and anything better puts a possible 1 seed in the picture.

Hunter had a rough game. He was supposed to guard Sherfield, OUs 3 point specialists. He was not up to the task. He went under screens instead of fighting thru the screen and should have been responsible to keep Sherfield from taking the 3 point shot that sent the game into OT.

do not understand why he starts instead of Rice.

Ou is scrappy. Yes they beat Bama and ISU. Still this game never should have gone to OT. Our hustle onD was not good. Ou had over 20 points on fast breaks. And lots of points off turnovers.

Horns are a veteran team with super talented players. Yet ou starting two freshmen comes within a hair of beating them. AT HOME.
Playing this poorly will not beat tcu, ku, ISU or Baylor. Terry needs to up his game.
There’s no way the ou kid should have gotten off that 3 to tie. We should have fouled as soon as ou crossed mid court.

Rice needs to start. Rice, not Car, needs to handle the ball when we have a lead and the games on the line.

Car dribbles too much. He needs to pass more. The whole team needs to pass more to find the open man. Allen needs to be cutting to the basket more—as do all our bigs.

We are tied for first—this is great. Horns will need to up their game if they want to be in first at the end of the regular season.

Not a good week for Ciach Terry. Losing to a Tceh team that Texas should have run out of their own gym, and then having to go to OT to beat the last place team in the league at home. As caryhorn said that ou player never should have gotten that last shot off.

We got the ball to our 2nd best FT shooter. The inbounds play was successful.

Had we farted around and thrown it to a big with a 60% FT mark, the play would have been a failure. Coaching: have more than one good option on an inbounds play, and take the best option that pops open based on what their defense does. What more do you want?

My concerns were not that inbound play or Hunter shooting the last FT. I meant the 2 or 3 issues above mentioned in another post.

The other team has coaches too.
Yes, and it appears that theirs was more successful than ours. Who took their 3 to tie the game in regulation? Their BEST 3 pt shooter. Where was our defense to keep him from taking the shot? Who took our shot as the shot clock and regulation wound down, a 3 pt attempt on an ISO by our player that was 0-6 at that time? He finished 0-7.

Their best 3 point shooter only got the shot on their third attempt, after the defense had collapsed attempting the rebound. Don't act like OU ran some precision set play to get him open.

O, but someone should NOT left their best 3 pt
shooter alone. The 2 did not hurt you, the 3 did.

Terry wanted a time out. Carr missed that and made a bad play at the end of regulation.
Maybe Terry should have called a TO on the dead ball at 51 seconds left in regulation. He might have reminded not to leave Sherfield alone and what he wanted run on the possession.

Precisely why Terry should have told our guys to foul after the ball crossed mid court—so there would be no 3 point shots at all. IF both free throws are made there are about 10 seconds left. Or if one is made we rebound and they foul us with about 6 seconds left. We shoot two. They have to take the ball the length of the court. They were out of timeouts. No ot. We win.

Ou is the worst team in the b12. They start two freshmen. We are at home. Never should have had to go to OT.

if this was such a good strategy, teams would do it all the time. The fact that it is done so rarely by people paid to make these decisions should tell you something.

If you foul then they foul, both teams get two free throws. Which team comes out ahead in that exchange is a coin flip. Either way, the opponent get the ball back with, say, six seconds instead of 10. This doesn’t make much of a difference, and you might be a point for two horse off. Better to just play defense, where your worst case is OT.

Things are different when there are one or two seconds left. Then, the back-and-forth free-throw battle is less of a problem.
