OTHER GAMES

Charlie’s USF Bulls are driving on the Temple Owls. Tied up 0-0 late second quarter. Charlie has a good TE and he’s using him effectively.

Punt to the endzone. Temple ball at the 20. Probably will be Temple’s last drive of the half.

57 yard run by Temple. A basic sweep. Good blocking and a few missed tackles by Charlie’s boys and he hit the corner and took off. 1st and goal Temple inside the five.

1at down. Charlie stuffs the run up the gut.
2nd down. Charlie stuffs the run up the gut.
3rd down. TD pass to the TE on a short out pattern.

(Oh oh. The binder asks: Why didn’t he run it up the gut again on third and fourth down, even though it was stuffed twice in a row?. The binder says run it up the gut.)

Temple 7
USF 0

1:26 left in the second quarter.

now halftime.

How did the fighting Charlies win 4 games? Did they play against high schools?

Edit: They beat BYU! How the hell did they beat BYU?

USF quotes following the loss to Temple -

"For sure, we’re gonna get it together,” redshirt freshman quarterback Jordan McCloud said. “I know we keep saying that, but the plays are there, we’ve just got to make ‘em.”

“Eventually it’ll open up,” Macon said. “It’s like when a bird hatches. It cracks its shell, it just takes time to open up. When it opens up it’ll be explosive, and we’ll be rolling.”

And then there's this gem from Charlie as to why he left two timeouts on the board:

“We had it, we felt like that could, you know, get the ball out and then go ahead to move it. I mean, they didn’t, they [the timeouts] don’t have anything to do with them. I mean, you’re down 10, it’s just move the ball.”

11/9

LSU vs. Alabama-- This is the obvious headliner. An off-and-on Tua may offset Bama's homefield advantage. If Burrow catches fire, it's an LSU upset. I'm taking LSU. Ed will be nearly incomprehensible in the post-game interview.

USC vs. Ariz. St.--The Trojans look to get back on track vs. a surprisingly decent ASU squad. Helton's gone no matter what at this point, but the Men of Troy play for pride. The significant talent differential will be noticeable. USC wins. Trojans wrap the Sun Devils. Today, the Devils can't pierce the Trojans with their pitchforks.

Penn St. vs. Minnesota--A battle of evil vs. good. The entire free world outside the State of Pennsylvania will be rooting for the Gophers. While Minnesota is undefeated, they haven't really beaten anybody that good. The talent disparity is significant. I'd like to see a Gopher upset, but I wouldn't bet any $ on it.

Baylor vs. TCU--Frogs with the upset at home. Tech took the upstart Bears to overtime. Baylor is not as good as their undefeated record might indicate. The Bears haven't beaten any really good teams--although this year's TCU team hardly qualifies as "really good." Today, Patterson will have the purple frogs very well prepared and higher than a kite. Rhule meets his coaching equal or superior. The Bears undefeated season comes crashing down to the dusty sod in Fort Worth today--at least I really hope so.

Tech vs. WV--If Tech can minimize the damage from WV's pass rush, they'll win or come close to it in a high scoring frenzy. If not, then it's the Mountaineers by a large margin.

ISU vs. Oklahoma--ISU will play them tough, but nobody's sneaking up on Riley's OU team today.

Wake vs. Va. Tech--I include this, because Wake's offense is very impressive. I'm no longer a skeptic of their top 25 ranking. Wake wins and keeps inching up the rankings.

Wash St. vs. Cal--The Pirate must neutralize Cal's very good pass rush. If he does, the Pirates will raid Berkeley, and carry off much booty. These teams are both 1-4 in conference play...

Iowa vs. Wisconsin--This one is very interesting. Iowa's ultra-tough defense will be tested by Mighty Wisconsin's O. This is one D the Badgers won't be able to steamroll and dominate up front. Look for a classic Big 10 smash mouth blood bath. Both squads' training rooms will be busy this coming week. Wisconsin with a hard fought win.

East Carolina vs. SMU--Shane and crew gets back on track at home. Shane hangs 50 on the (other) Pirates, and the Ponies win by 3 TDs.

Missouri vs. Georgia--Yeah, everyone knows Ga will probably win this one, but I think Missouri will give them a heck of a scare and possibly score the upset--even in Athens.

Liberty vs. BYU--BYU will crush them. I include this only because of the interesting novelty of a Holy War.

And last night 11/8, UW beat Oregon St. 19-7. UW is far out of the PAC 12 race, but they are a good team. The dogs are the best 6-4 team in the country.

I watched a UW game and the announcers kept calling them "the dogs".
Kinda became a pet peeve.
"The Dogs" are Georgia. They are the Bulldogs. Dog is actually in their name.
Yes, a Huskie is a dog.
But UW is the "Huskies. Not the Dogs.

Did you know Dog spelled backwards is God. :smile1:

Having spent much time in Washington state, it’s one of my very favorite states. So if they call UW the dogs (and they do), then, for me, that trumps what folks in Georgia may say.

Of course there are other dog teams out there as well. There’s a whole pound of dogs in the college football world.

Nothing against Georgia, but some of my memories of Ga include: massive unending traffic jams in Atlanta, long airport delays and rushing from terminal to terminal at Hartsfield, and a rather short-term girlfriend’s family pushing this vile slop they call “Brunswick Stew” on me every meal.

FG TCU

Frogs up 6-0

less than a minute left in the half.

Duggan missing some open men. Baylor is lucky to only be down by 6.

What’s this?!?!? TCU recovers on a squib kick!

TCU at the BU 24.
Duggan scrambles for 7.
Timeout.
Under 20 seconds in the half.
Throws it away.
Run for the first down.
8 seconds left.
TCU at the Baylor 14.

Baylor has worked their short passing game, but Patterson’s fundamentally sound Frogs are coming up and making the tackles. Few if any big plays for BU. Around 70 yards offense for Baylor at half! :yikes:

Great analysis as usual Chop. Some comments.

If LSU had played anyone but Texas I might be with you, but when the Texas defense is the best defense Burrow has played against there are questions. You can bet Saban and staff has studied the Texas tape until it wore out then found another. To win LSU is going to have to score 30+, and I have trouble seeing that. Also as much as I would like to see a LSU win, college football will be the loser as that will put both LSU and Alabama into the CFP.

I agree with everything, but since the Texas/TCU game was all about how inept Texas was and Baylor isn't the 12th best team in the country (ok the 12 best who hasn't played anyone with a championship pulse), it is hard to know how good either of these teams are.

If TCU can score some touchdowns we might have been one the way to a route but they are allowing Baylor to hang around and have a shot

I cant tell if folks have interest in this kind of stuff or not?
But 3 Vegas casinos took in big bets on tOSU -27.5 in the 1st half against Maryland. Maybe/probably the same bettor on all
$22K to make $20K at Sportsbooks
$55K to make $50K at Wm Hill
$22K to make $20K at Southpoint
So $99K total to win $90K
And tOSU is up 42-0 at halftime
