OTHER GAMES

Ole Miss intercepts pass that bounces through receiver's hands, and scores TD two plays later to open up a 9 point lead with about 6 minutes left in the game.

Kiffin’s a riverboat gambler. When he hits, he hits big. When he misses…

He and Leach deserve each other.

Ole Miss gets a pick 6. aTm is toast. . . .or maybe not. Down by 16, they are threatening to score with better than 3 minutes to play. . .aTm scores and has to go for two. . . .no good (pass batted at line of scrimmage). aTm trails by 10 with about 3 minutes left. . . . aTm will have to try onside kick. . . no good (bounces out of bounds)

Ark and LSU tied at 13 in overtime. Ark intercepts LSU in the end zone. Ark freshman kicker boots FG to win game.

In retrospect...I need to check injury lists before making picks. I missed a BIG one for VaTech that, had I realized it, would not have seen me picking VaTech to win.

Purdue just got curb-stomped and never recovered.

Indeed because they are two of the five best play callers/offensive minds in all football. Difference is Lane admits Leach is a genius and the best offensive mind ever in college football.

I like Leach, and at one point, wanted him at UT, but I see how he really gets under the skin of his big rivals.

on a night when the Aggies lost all hope of finishing at the top of the heap in the SEC west or likely above third place there, I am not totally depressed. Schadenfreude is no substitute for winning but it is useful in assuaging the pain.

The Washington Football Team just beat Brady and the Bucs with a 10 minute 27 second (the longest in the NFL this year) 19 play (tied for the most in the NFL this year) drive to score the TD that sealed the deal with 29 seconds left in the game.

Marcus Johnson wasn't drafted out of UT and has bounced around the league a bit since then, on and off rosters and practice squads of a few different teams. Yesterday he went off for 100 yards receiving (5 catches on 6 targets) for Tennessee, giving them a badly-needed boost to their offense that was sputtering with Derrick Henry out. Didn't get in the endzone but did help set up a TD and a pair of FGs.

Even better, the Titans' second-leading receiver (and leading rusher) was D'Onta Foreman. And their third-leading receiver was Geoff Swaim.

Based on what I have seen, Foreman may be getting ready to make a big splash. That is, if he can keep his attitude in check.

Best part of that drive was taking a knee on the two-point conversion to prevent any chance of a botched play putting TB within a touchdown and two-point conversion.

Already leading 24-7 early in the fourth quarter, SF decided to go for it on fourth and a long five from about the LA 40, and Jimmy threw a TD pass to Deebo Samuel. 31-7

Not much risk there...too far to reliably kick the FG since a miss gives the ball at midfield while a punt probably gives the ball back at the 20 even if you presume the delay of game penalty for five more yards to work with.

Aside from fumble or INT, you just don't risk more than that 20 yards between the 20 and the 40 while still requiring (on a failure) LA to get a couple of first downs to get into FG range.

KSU did that against Nebraska back in the early days of the Big 12, likewise winning by 10 instead of 11 as a result. The spread was 10.5 points.

Now THAT is a bad beat...but it seems to be a more recent thing of players and coaches being more aware of the spreads in terms of game play. And yes, gaming commissions DO look at 'coincidental' outcomes.

The Houston Cougars are now #17 in the nation.
They take on Memphis—a team that has beaten the Coogs five years straight.
It appears that UH’s BMDs sure do know how to build a good program.

Only word that comes to mind is: disgusting.

As it currently stands, at this low point, the following Texas teams are better than we are (for now at least):

Baylor
aTm
SMU
Houston
UTSA

While we beat Tech, they’ve got a better record than us.
TCU isn’t far behind us, in a down year for them.

Thankfully, there is Rice.

Found this tidbit about the University of Arizona's Offense:

"Arizona leads the Pac-12 in offensive plays run . . ." This is true. All their plays are very offensive.

I spoke with UH boosters after Dana's first year. They were adamant about giving him the time to build the program his way. Looks like their patience paid off.
